Jets blow four-goal lead, escape with win over Wild

Whip it! Whip it real good!

Veteran center Eric Staal is slated to play in his 1,000th National Hockey League game as his suddenly slumping Minnesota Wild look to sweep the season series when they visit the injury-plagued Winnipeg Jets on Sunday. They have only two wins in their past 10 games.

Winnipeg had mounted a 4-0 lead at 4:38 of the second period after scoring on four of its first eight shots in the game, but the Wild fired in four straight goals to tie it up heading into the third period. Lowry collected one assist and Mathieu Perreault and Blake Wheeler each had a pair of helpers.

ABOUT THE WILD (43-21-6): Leading scorer Mikael Granlund saw his four-game point streak come to an end Saturday but has recorded three goals and two assists over the last five games to push his career-high point total to 65.

Morrissey's fifth goal of the season through a screen by teammate Patrik Laine hit the post and went past Devan Dubnyk for his third game-winning marker.

Copp scored at 3:47 of the first period to give the Jets a 1-0 lead.

VCU basketball coach Will Wade agrees to head coaching job at LSU
As Gary Parrish of CBS Sports reports, the Tigers have reached out to Crean to gauge his interest in the vacation position. Wade replaces longtime head coach Johnny Jones, who was sacked at the end of the season after five years on the job.

Bryan Little won a faceoff back to Chiarot, who took the puck wide to the left side, edging past Erik Haula before driving the net, with his backhand shot going off a defender and into the net.

"I didn't see the puck", Dubnyk said of Morrissey's victor.

It was only the third time in National Hockey League history that a team scored twice in a game on penalty shots.

Thunder Bay's Eric Staal is now a member of the NHL's 1,000-games played club.

"This is a tough stretch for us", Staal, who has recorded 349 career goals, told reporters. The Kings are six points out of the final playoff spot with 11 games to play. A 2003 draft pick of Carolina, Staal has only missed 22 games in his career.
