LeBron James Speaks On NBA Coaches' Choices To Bench Key Players

Vote: How do you feel about teams sitting star players toward the end of the regular season?

The NBA was peeved this week, according to Cavaliers general manager David Griffin, after the team made a decision to rest LeBron James, Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love for a nationally televised game against the Clippers, a game the Cavaliers lost 108-78. "You're going to have certain games where certain things fall on certain nights, but a coach's job is to figure out a way for their team to compete for a championship, not compete for a game".

Head coach Luke Walton is spending the remaining games of this season trying to figure out what he has in his young players.

"At the end of the day, it sucks at times where certain guys have to rest, but certain guys need rest, and it's a long, strenuous season and the National Basketball Association does a great job of putting the schedule together as best as they can".

"Yeah, they were not happy", Griffin said.

But it does create problems for an entertainment product when the best players are not performing.

On the night, the four-time MVP was 13-for-22 from the floor, adding a team-high seven assists, six boards and a steal. He also elaborated that they technically just rested one guy (LeBron) for the game since the other are recovering from injuries.

Supreme Asks out of Court Settlement for Ayodhya Issue
The court even asked the petitioner to consult the parties and inform it about the decision on March 31. Swamy said that the Ramjanmabhoomi in Ayodhya should be used only to construct a Ram temple.

"Well, I've been part of six straight Finals and every single season and every single Finals has been bigger and bigger and bigger and better and better and more people have tuned in", James said.

This idea is a start, but what happens when you're a fan of a lowly team and just want to go see a LeBron James, Steph Curry or Blake Griffin type player? Popularized by Gregg Popovich, teams will often sit their players when they feel that they have been overworked.

"I can't stress enough how important rest is, man", Irving said.

James was asked if, in his role as NBA Players Association vice president, he had any opinion on the players' obligation to play in marquee television games considering the nine-year, $24 billion TV rights extension that was negotiated with ESPN/ABC and Turner last February. "I wanted to play [Saturday] night but my coach felt like it was best that I didn't play last night, so I'm going to go with my coach and he's never steered me wrong". When we get to LA and play teams like this, we consider it a show instead of a competition. Like most around the league he'd like to reduce the games he is rested, but the answers are not easy to come by.

It was also said on the same article that Tyronn Lue made a decision to sit LeBron because he don't want to have his star player play solo. I hate it for the fans. "Hopefully we can spread (the schedule) out a little bit more and get guys a little bit more rest. But you can't do that in 2015, and everybody plays really hard and you have to run out on shooters all the time, more ground to cover, and if you don't give a crap and you mail in a possession or a play, you end up like Otto Porter standing there like a jack-- while his guy runs away and you're on 'Shaqtin" a Fool.' So there is this pressure to just go [all] out all the time.
