Attention students! 23 universities 279 technical institutes in India are fake says UGC

The situation seems alarming for the students as 23 universities and 279 technical Institutes in India have been declared as "fake".

According to reports, there are about 23 fake universities and 279 technical institutes that are operating without any authority to issue degrees.

Illegal colleges and universities, including engineering and medical institutions, have sprung up throughout the country ever since higher education was thrown open to private players.

Besides Delhi, these institutes are also established in Telangana, West Bengal, Maharasthra and so on in large numbers.

"We send the list of unapproved and unregulated technical institutions to concerned state authorities for taking appropriate action against such institutions", an official was quoted by the Hindustan Times as saying.

Candidates who are all set to look for Universities and colleges offering undergraduate and postgraduate courses, must take note of all the self-styled and unrecognized institutions that are functioning in contravention of the UGC Act.

The UGC and the AICTE released the list of such fake institutes on their websites last month, warning students of the new academic session that begins next month. This "Fake" named Universities and colleges are running without permission of UGC and AICTE.

Mahendra Nath Pandey, Minister of State for Human Resource Development had said in Rajya Sabha recently that the ministry had asked all the Government to investigate the matters and file Police complaints against Fake Universities.
