Green's all-around consistency boosts Warriors in Game 1

Led by Durant's performance, the Warriors cruised to a 121-109 victory over the Portland Trail Blazers in Game 1 of their first-round series in front of the usual sold out crowd at Oracle Arena. CJ McCollum finished with 41 points while Damian Lillard added 34 as the eighth-seeded Blazers gave the Warriors all they handle, knotting the score at 88-88 entering the final frame. Draymond Green wasn't as dominant as he was in Game 1, but he did a little bit of everything, registering six points, 12 rebounds, 10 assists and three steals, and Zaza Pachulia (10 points, four rebounds) and Ian Clark (13 points, five rebounds) were two of five Warriors to reach double-figures in scoring.

Nurkic, traded to Portland on February 12 from the Denver Nuggets, missed the last seven games of the regular season as well as Game 1 against the Warriors with a non-displaced right leg fracture. He patted his chest after two straight fourth-quarter baskets and said, "I got this!"

Warriors coach Steve Kerr confirmed to reporters the forward was a doubt for Wednesday's Game 2 with the Trail Blazers. The Trail Blazers scored just 12 points in the third quarter and Curry went to work picking pockets.

McCollum, who shot 11-for-15 from the floor in the first 24 minutes of play, seemed to have the Warriors' number.

Final killer whale to be born in SeaWorld park welcomed
Visitors soon will be able to see the calf with its mother "during select times", the park said . Takara began bonding and caring for her new baby immediately, according to the park.

Durant, acquired as a free agent after the Warriors' loss to the Cavs in last year's finals, connected on 12 of his 20 shots and also pulled down 10 rebounds.

As is true in many Rockets games, their high octane offense eventually found its footing after a close first half and they blew out the Thunder in game one. Curry hit a 3-pointer in his National Basketball Association record 59th consecutive playoff game, making his first 1:17 into the game. Thompson wound up with 15 points.

Meanwhile, nothing has changed in regards to the status of Trail Blazers center Jusuf Nurkic, who missed the series opener due to a fractured right leg.

Survive isn't even the right word, not in Game 2. Center Dwight Howard had 14 rebounds but just seven points for the Hawks, who dominated inside and on the boards early but couldn't contain Wall, Beal and Morris. The postseason appearance was the 66th for Warriors SG Klay Thompson, tying SF Rick Barry for second on Golden State's all-time list. The former Michigan State star proves his worth with Golden State night in and night out, acting as the driving defensive force that the Warriors desperately need. On uncontested 3-pointers, Green was 3-of-3. "But to get over that hump and beat them, we've got to make those plays and give guys more opportunities so we can have them as well on the offensive end". Turnovers and hot shooting from the opposition are mainly why Portland stuck around so long in this series' inaugural game.
