Comedian Charlie Murphy remembered by fans and the famous

Charlie Murphy, who was the star of "Chappelle's Show" and also wrote some of the film scripts for his more famous brother, has sadly passed away at the relatively young age of 57.

Murphy was a standup comedian best known for his role as a writer on Chappelle's Show. "Keep his family in your thoughts and in your prayers and keep a space for Charlie in you're heart".

"We respectfully ask for privacy during this time of great loss for all of us". The most popular short turned into a skit about the late Rick James.

Celebrities posted to Twitter and Instagram to share their reactions to the actor's death, tributing his life and impact in Hollywood.

The Chappelle's Show star went on to serve as Eddie's bodyguard when Eddie Murphy became a comedic sensation.

The stand-up comedian and older brother of fellow comedian Eddie Murphy rose to fame with his appearances on Chapelle's Show between 2003 and 2004.

Today is a sad day for hardcore fans of Charlie Murphy.

He leaves behind three children - two from his marriage to Tisha Taylor Murphy, who died in 2009 from cervical cancer, and another from a previous relationship.

In the hours before he died, Murphy tweeted: 'One to Sleep On: Release the past to rest as deeply as possible'. "I loved Charlie Murphy".
