Facial Recognition Feature on Galaxy S8 Bypassed Using Just a Photo

Samsung Galaxy S8 Facial Recognition Feature Can Reportedly Be Bypassed With

A video posted by blogger MarcianoTech, in which he uses a pre-release version of the S8, shows the phone being unlocked using a photo (at the 1:09 mark).

Samsung Galaxy S8's biggest advantage is the fact that the duo comes with Bluetooth 5.

As the company has already received relentless criticism for the lack of user safety due to the Galaxy Note 7 debacle, Samsung would not want the user security offered by devices to come in question as well. Even though the S8 is the size of an iPhone 7, its display is as large as the one on the iPhone 7 plus.

But it's far from ideal for the tech giant which put safety and consumer trust at the centre of its marketing campaign for the new device. The Galaxy S8 comes in some lovely colours: Midnight Black, Arctic Silver, Coral Blue and Maple Gold.

Jose Mourinho admits Manchester United are "in trouble" after Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Marcos Rojo suffered nasty-looking injuries. Ahead of Friday's draw for the semi-final, which also features Ajax , Lyon and Celta Vigo, the Portuguese added: "I'm relieved".

Samsung has also finally introduced its Microsoft Continuum-like feature, Samsung DeX, which will allow users to use the smartphone like a computer by docking it to monitor, keyboard, and mouse.

An early reviewer discovered a flaw in the facial recognition feature, which lets users unlock the smartphone by looking at the front-facing "with lighting capabilities". This feature is created to turn a Galaxy S8 phone into a PC, along with Android apps all running in a desktop-like environment.

A major new feature of the phone is the artificially intelligent voice assistant dubbed Bixby - effectively the company's answer to the iPhone's Siri. Before Samsung announced the Galaxy S8 would come with a single-lens camera, there were rumors claiming the handset maker plans to add a dual-camera setup on its flagship. The new smartphones are powered by the new octa-core Exynos processors with 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage.
