Iran 'not living up to the spirit' of nuclear deal, despite compliance

The agreement puts limits on Iran's nuclear activities in exchange for the lifting of economic sanctions that for years crippled Iran's economy. Tillerson condemned Iran as a leading human rights abuser while praising Saudi Arabia - the kings of head-chopping - as a great U.S. ally. So far, there's been no major revolt from supporters of President Donald Trump, despite their expectation he would be an agent of disruption.

US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson tore into a 2015 nuclear deal with Iran, saying it only delayed the nation's ambition to gain weapons of mass destruction, and did not take into account its role in sponsoring terrorism and destabilizing other nations.

The president had previously spoken about dismantling or withdrawing from both agreements as part of his vision, explained in his inaugural address, that "every decision on trade, on taxes, on immigration, on foreign affairs will be made to benefit American workers and American families".

Volkswagen to pay $2.8 billion in US diesel emission scandal
It is also offering compensation to auto owners, which both measures expected to cost a total of USD11 billion. One executive is in custody and awaiting trial and another pleaded guilty and agreed to cooperate.

He said the deal, brokered by former President Barack Obama's administration along with other world powers, represented the "same failed approach" the US has taken to North Korea. As a candidate, Trump threatened to jettison the pact with Mexico and Canada unless he could substantially renegotiate it in America's favor. Mr. Trump has repeatedly reviled that accord as the worst ever negotiated because Iran can comply with it and still get the Bomb. Earlier this week he signed a "Buy America, Hire America" order during a factory visit in Wisconsin which included a review of the H-1B visa scheme used by foreign tech workers.

Trump has panned what he has called "the frightful Iran deal" reached by the U.S. and five other world powers under his predecessor, former usa president Barack Obama.

However, the U.S. admits that Tehran is complying with the 2015 agreement. With some of those critics now in office, Tillerson's comments Wednesday marked the first time that position has been echoed by the USA government. After a federal judge blocked the order, Iran granted visas to wrestlers from the U.S.to participate in a major worldwide tournament in a move widely seen as a bid to lower tensions. Even Trump's Democratic opponent in the presidential race, Hillary Clinton, opposed the accord.
