Iran's FM reacts to Tillerson's criticism on nuclear deal

He said the pact, brokered by former president Barack Obama's administration, along with other world powers, represented the "same failed approach" the United States has used in North Korea. Iran is a potential threat to the world's peace.

Another Western diplomat called the administration comments "a politically acceptable way of sending the certification to Congress" that Iran is holding to the deal, describing it as "certification dressed up in rhetoric" of criticism toward Tehran.

His statement was the latest in a drumbeat of warnings from the Trump administration that it is set to crack down on Iran and might reconsider the nuclear deal reached between the US, EU partners, Russian Federation and China.

The agreement, which was branded by Donald Trump as the "worst" ever negotiated, saw Tehran curtail its nuclear program, in exchange for sanctions relief.

"That is why we have to look at Iran in a very comprehensive way in terms of the threat it poses in all areas of the region and the world", he added.

The Trump administration's inter-agency review of policy towards Iran will examine whether the lifting of sanctions against Tehran is in the US national security interests.

The "America First" president who vowed to extricate America from onerous overseas commitments appears to be warming up to the view that when it comes to global agreements, a deal's a deal. The agreement allowed rich and poor countries to set their own goals to reduce carbon dioxide and went into effect last November, after the U.S., China and other countries ratified it. The State Department must provide an update to Congress every 90 days.

APNewsBreak: Baby orca! Last killer whale born at SeaWorld
The orca's birth in San Antonio, Texas , follows a decision in 2016 by the Florida-based company to stop breeding killer whales . Spokeswoman Suzanne Pelisson Beasley said birth control and "social management" would prevent future orca breeding.

Iran is failing to fulfill the "spirit" of its nuclear deal with world powers, President Donald Trump declared Thursday, setting an ominous tone for his forthcoming decision about whether to pull the US out of the landmark agreement. Those sanctions badly hurt the Iranian economy, particularly limiting its ability to sell oil on the global market, and led to almost two years of hard-fought negotiations before the two sides reached an agreement.

In his letter to Ryan, Tillerson said that "Iran remains a leading state sponsor of terror through many platforms and methods".

So what exactly voids the Nuclear deal?

Iran was specifically told to just discard all of its uranium storage but the reports have indicated its presence. On the one hand, Trump wants to show he's tougher than Obama was, but on the other hand, he's not ready to rip up the deal. Is it best for the nation or is there any personal interest involved?

The U.S. still maintains some sanctions against Iran for separate, non-nuclear issues, with Washington accusing Iran of sponsoring terrorism outside its borders and violating human rights at home.
