Jeremy Corbyn and Theresa May on Boot- Boot Campaign

BBCRuth Davidson was speaking on Newsnight as she prepares for a decisive election

Green co-leaders Caroline Lucas and Jonathan Bartley have today written to Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn and Liberal Democrat leader Tim Farron requesting a meeting to discuss the best way to "stop the Tories wrecking our country".

But as she spoke Mr Corbyn explicitly ruled out any post-election coalition with the SNP, insisting that he would not do a deal with Nicola Sturgeon's party to forge a so-called "progressive alliance", as hers was not a progressive party.

"I've decided that going now will give me the opportunity to do other things with my life and is therefore in the best interests of me and my family".

It came as Mr Corbyn promised to "prove the Establishment experts wrong" and win the election, despite a fresh Times/YouGov opinion poll putting Labour 24 points behind the Tories.

The Party has been facing the hard task of securing votes from those who did not vote for Brexit in last year's referendum.

"If people in Scotland want protection against the Tory government, if people in Scotland want an effective, strong opposition...they will only get it from the SNP", she added.

The prime minister: "I recognise that small rural schools, particularly, have particular issues and I am very happy to look at those concerns to ensure that we get the finding formula right and we can spread the money as fairly as possible". In the meantime their letter expresses that they are "deeply concerned too about the prospect of a further Conservative majority and the impact on our crumbling NHS, the housing crisis, the environment and what for young people is a bleak and uncertain future".

Following his first major election speech on Thursday morning, Mr Corbyn was asked whether he was considering or would rule out a second referendum on any agreement reached after withdrawal negotiations with the EU.

United States president Donald Trump launched airstrikes against Syria after a gas attack in the country that killed 70 people. Before the alleged chemical attack, the West was "on the verge of a grim consensus", which had now changed, said Johnson.

Ms May said that funding was now "not fair across the country", and added: "We have consulted on [the national funding formula] and will obviously be responding to that consultation".

Playing to simmering public anger about stagnant wages and businesses that pay low taxes, Corbyn said he would scrap planned cuts to corporation tax and reverse tax breaks for wealthy individuals.

Controversial business figures like Sir Philip Green, Mike Ashley, Southern Rail and the chief executives of tax-dodging multinationals should be anxious about the prospect of a Labour victory, he will say. She put on a dress for church on Easter Sunday, smiled for the photographers and the history books and went home to give the Queen a call.

"We will overturn this rigged system". Despite this, she had repeatedly said in the past that she would not seek a new election before 2020.

Starting off, the Prime Minister defended her decision by saying that a speedy election was "in our country's national interest", suggesting that this would promote unity in Westminster over Brexit.

Theresa May has made clear a "weak" Labour leader will be the focus of her campaign.

"Or are we going to be a country that works to make the rich even richer?"

"Britain needs a Labour government that is prepared to fight for people in every part of the country - our towns, villages as well as big cities".
