'John 3:16' written on Aaron Hernandez's forehead, source says

Hernandez had reportedly gotten a new tattoo that referenced the Blood street gang after the fight, prison officials said.

That determination comes from the district attorney's office in Worcester County, Massachusetts.

Many questions remain after the former New England Patriots tight end was found dead in his prison cell by a corrections officer. He also jammed his cell door to delay entry.

It's generally best for researchers to get access to a brain within hours of death to determine the presence of Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy or other neurodegenerative diseases, said Dr.

Baden is a former chief medical examiner for New York City.

Hernandez was already serving a life sentence when he was acquitted.

Jose Baez, Hernandez's lead attorney in his recent double murder trial, said the family made arrangements with the medical examiner on Wednesday to donate Hernandez's brain to Boston University's CTE Center.

"Here's the one thing you have to understand", he said.

According to Baez, Hernandez's family does not have "confidence" in the medical examiner's office "given the history of this case, the history of missing evidence, the history of misconduct".

Richard Simmons addresses fans in Facebook statement
It is not always possible for people to solve problems themselves as "sometimes it's [the problems] just bigger than we are". Amazingly, Simmons decided this was the time to speak up. 'But it is yet to be determined, I would say'.

Investigators wouldn't say what Hernandez's handwritten notes said.

Theories as to why Hernandez killed himself have been swirling around social media, despite there being no clear answer as to why he took his own life. Authorities say the pair stayed on the phone until the 8 p.m. lockdown at the maximum-security prison where he was serving a life sentence for murder. He was found hanged with a bedsheet tied to a window, and he had tried to block his cell door from the inside.

Baker also warned against jumping to any conclusions: "There are a million rumors flying out there. As it relates on whether it is a suicide or not, we don't make that call until everything is done", he said.

The sudden death of the one-time $40 million pass-catcher was all the more surprising given its timing.

"It is our position that [Chief Medical Examiner Henry Nields] is withholding Aaron Hernandez' brain illegally", Baez said. In Aaron Hernandez's situation, the case reverts to the status at the beginning of the trial if the defendant has not exhausted all means of legal appeals. "It was completely agreed upon", Baez said.

Baez had earlier Thursday been furious over the delay over the release of the brain and had threatened to sue the state for possession.

"Mr. Hernandez was in a single cell in a general population unit".

The home where Aaron Hernandez lived when he was accused of murder is still on the market.

The change in Hernandez's legal status could force the Patriots to pay his family US$3.25 million (S$4.5 million) in signing-bonus money they have withheld in the wake of the charges against him in three murders, and the National Football League might similarly be compelled to make pension payments to Hernandez's family.
