Manchester United partners with the new Facebook augmented reality developer platform

Inspired by Pokémon Go, the wildly successful augmented reality game, Zuckerberg wants to take the technology mainstream, making it a more affordable alternative to say a TV set. Facebook isn't the only corporation getting in on these new developments, but it's definitely the one investing the most into it.

If you haven't noticed the little camera on the top left hand side of your Facebook app maybe it's time you checked out it. Facebook "Stories" are a thing now, and this little camera is where you create them.

During his keynote kickoff for F8 yesterday, Zuckerberg (pictured above) once again emphasized his belief that Facebook in all its incarnations will help "bring people closer together" and overcome the current polarization in society. After being pursued by law enforcement for two days, Stephens shot himself to death in Pennsylvania yesterday. However, with the pervasiveness of smartphones and their ability to support photo- and video-sharing, it's become clear the phone will lead that technological change, he said.

Facebook has named its first AR Studio beta partners as Electronic Arts' Mass Effect: Andromeda, GIPHY, Manchester United, Nike, Real Madrid, TripIt, and Warner Bros' Justice League.

"I am confident now we are going to push this augmented-reality platform forward", Zuckerberg said, adding that the technology would eventually be incorporated into eyeglasses.

Apple Unveils New LivePhotosKit API to Embed Live Photos on the Web
Developers will now be able to use the API to share Live Photos playback on iOS, macOS, and now the web. Almost two years after Live Photos made its debut, Apple has finally revealed the Live Photo API .

The three categories of the augmented reality content are; overlaying information, adding virtual objects and enhancing real objects.

The company also unveiled a new feature called "spaces", which allows users create 3-D avatars, then "meet up" with other users' avatars in a digital world.

Or, actually engage with the real world by going out like a normal person.

We'll hear more about how Facebook is using artificial intelligence in its products (this could be an expansion of Tuesday's machine learning and computer vision focus).
