Microsoft To Release Major Windows 10 Updates Twice A Year
Microsoft said Thursday it will commit to a strict schedule for Windows and Office feature updates: every September and March.
Microsoft released the Windows 10 Anniversary Update in August 2016, and the Creators Update made its public debut on April 11, leaving a seven-month gap between the flagship upgrades. The company not only promised two yearly updates for Windows 10, but also said that the same model would be followed for the Office 365 ProPlus programs.
Microsoft started work on the next feature update for Windows 10 already, and Windows Insiders on the Fast Ring got the first builds already on their machines that they can play around with. Microsoft will also release Windows 10 Redstone 5, thus moving from the current 12 months of support to 18.
MICROSOFT HAS committed to banal updates to the Windows Operating System in March and September.
If Microsoft was churning out worthy feature upgrades in its new versions, it would be a different story.
It's quite the change from the old days when we had to wait years for significant new Windows features, and even macOS only gets big updates every year or two.
