Microsoft To Release Major Windows 10 Updates Twice A Year

User defeats Microsoft's latest bid to force W10 upgrade

Microsoft said Thursday it will commit to a strict schedule for Windows and Office feature updates: every September and March.

Microsoft released the Windows 10 Anniversary Update in August 2016, and the Creators Update made its public debut on April 11, leaving a seven-month gap between the flagship upgrades. The company not only promised two yearly updates for Windows 10, but also said that the same model would be followed for the Office 365 ProPlus programs.

Microsoft started work on the next feature update for Windows 10 already, and Windows Insiders on the Fast Ring got the first builds already on their machines that they can play around with. Microsoft will also release Windows 10 Redstone 5, thus moving from the current 12 months of support to 18.

MICROSOFT HAS committed to banal updates to the Windows Operating System in March and September.

If Microsoft was churning out worthy feature upgrades in its new versions, it would be a different story.

It's quite the change from the old days when we had to wait years for significant new Windows features, and even macOS only gets big updates every year or two.

Jurgen Klopp dismisses Liverpool move for Joe Hart
Benteke has scored 14 goals this season - four more than he managed under Klopp last season - and three in his last four matches. Only Kevin De Bruyne (10) has more assists from open play this season in the Premier League this season than Wilfried Zaha (9).

In the latest Insider Preview build of Windows 10, the tech giant has introduced a feature known as Power Throttling, which trains a computer's processors to switch into a more power-efficient mode when dealing with apps still running but not now being used.

Microsoft says Windows 10 now has 400 million users.

Bernardo Caldas, General Manager of Windows Commercial Marketing, cites security as one of the key reasons for Microsoft's adoption of this twice-yearly strategy, adding that customers wanted "more predictability and simplicity from this update servicing model to help make deployments and updates of Microsoft products easier".

The firm says each of these releases will be supported for 18 months after its release.

This update schedule doesn't come as much of a surprise. Also, "Project Neon" is also reported to part of the update and is set to bring a number of visual changes to the interface, especially to Windows Explorer. Office 365 ProPlus will have its major updates at the same time. Others can not be uninstalled this way however, and the Move apps option worked for a short period of time but has been inactive for the most part of its existence.
