Mourinho expects the worst with Ibrahimovic, Rojo injuries

Manchester United's Zlatan Ibrahimovic sits on the pitch before being taken off with an injury during the Europa League quarterfinal second leg soccer match between Manchester United and Anderlecht at Old Trafford stadium in Manchester England Thursday

A wondrous victor from Marcus Rashford, deep into extra-time, finally saw off Anderlecht to cap a thrilling night at Old Trafford and send United into the Europa League semi-finals.

Later, he accepted that they had shown bravery before, and said: "They can not make miracles".

The Europa League may ultimately be a means to a more alluring end for a club of United's stature, but the silverware itself will go some way to restoring that confidence - which once, entirely justifiably, bordered on arrogance - at Old Trafford.

They did just that in the 32nd minute.

Misplaced passing and under-performing players continued to hamper United.

Ibrahimovic, who has scored 28 goals this season, looked in enormous pain after landing awkwardly in the dying embers of normal time, while Rojo also sustained a knee problem in the first half.

As extra time came, Marcus Rashford slotted past Martinez from a knockdown from Marouane Fellaini.

Ibrahimovic was denied from close range, then saw penalty appeals waved away before he fired wide.

Only Genk (25) and Roma (24) have scored more goals in the Europa League this season than Anderlecht (23).

Patriots, Trump Slam NYT Over Tweet of Team Photos
And by " Trump's team", I mean the New England Patriots, whose owner, Robert Kraft , is a longtime Trump friend. Several members of the team will not attend the ceremony because of the man whose hand they would be shaking.

"We had a lot of chances and could have scored a lot of goals but sometimes games go like that".

The United youth product has been used sparingly this season, but seized his chance when called upon with two goals from four starts in the last five Premier League games.

However, Mourinho's men were still made to sweat.

Jose Mourinho believes it would be illogical for Marcus Rashford to play for England Under-21s this summer, saying it does not make sense for the Manchester United teenager to "drop levels".

No details are available as of yet regarding the severity of the injury, though Jose Mourinho didn't offer a positive outlook regarding Ibrahimovic and Marcos Rojo, who was also hurt in the match.

"At 1-1 you are at risk. You can not do miracles, so miracles I don't expect, but they have to try to do everything to accelerate the process".

"On top of that, I think you are trying to take him for the Euro Under-21s". Pogba's long ball that led to Henrikh Mkhitaryan's goal wasn't an assist, wasn't a "key pass", and probably isn't even technically a hockey assist, since Marcus Rashford tried and failed to make a pass to Zlatan Ibrahimović before recovering the deflected ball and laying it off to Mkhitaryan.

"He is working now and he is improving and, if in this training session the answer is positive, I will select him to be on the bench tomorrow (Thursday)", Mourinho said.
