National Merit corporate-sponsored scholarships announced

Caitlyn B. Ransom, an East Syracuse Minoa High School senior planning to study surgical medicine, has won a National Merit Liberty Mutual scholarship.

MacArthur High School senior Benjamin Harris Bolin was recently announced as a victor of the National Merit CACI Scholarship.

The corporate-sponsored scholarships are awarded to children of employees of those companies, are residents in communities where the companies are located, or plan to pursue careers or majors the sponsor wants to encourage. Other awards provide a single payment of $2,500 to $5,000. Recipients can use their awards at any regionally accredited USA college or university of their choice.

More awards will be announced May 10, with winners of college-sponsored Merit Scholarship awards announced on June 7 and July 17.

Winners are candidates who were judged to have the strongest combination of academic skills and achievements, extracurricular accomplishments and potential for success in rigorous college studies.
