Poland hoping for 'development of relations' between EU, Turkey after referendum

Opposition parties are filing their objections to the electoral board Tuesday for the decision to count as valid ballots that did not bear an official stamp and other alleged irregularities.

Turkey's main opposition party has filed a formal request seeking the referendum to be annulled because of voting irregularities.

Opposition parties, the Turkish bar association and the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe monitoring group have said the referendum fell short of worldwide standards.

Voting was already underway on Sunday when the electoral authority announced it would start accepting unstamped ballots - a decision that the opposition said should invalidate the results.

Government spokesman Numan Kurtulmus told parliament Tuesday that the state of emergency is needed to purge the network of USA -based cleric Fethullah Gulen, whom Ankara blames for the failed coup, and to combat Kurdish militants, the Islamic State group and other threats from Syria.

"The way President Trump is approaching matters is encouraging, makes us happy", Erdogan told CNN International in an exclusive interview. The president later called on citizens to take to the streets to show their opposition to the coup's plotters.

While those who voted "Yes" on Sunday may trust Erdogan with such powers - saying that it is necessary to stabilise the country and secure it from political and economic turmoil leading to insecurity - would they be equally as comfortable with a CHP president at the helm?

The state of emergency allows the government to rule by decrees. One hundred seventy-six media outlets have been shut down.

Initially, it appeared that Erdogan's referendum was headed toward defeat. The new arrangements will give him the power to appoint a cabinet and some senior judges, and the power of parliament to scrutinize legislation will curbed.

State lawmaker: Canada doesn't grasp urgency of milk crisis
Meanwhile, President Donald Trump addressed the urgency of the issue while speaking in Kenosha Tuesday. There's also "flat-line growth" in other dairy manufacturing sectors within NY , he added.

The YSK has also chose to annul elections in the past because of unstamped ballots. This means Erdogan can serve as chairman of the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP), which he co-founded.

"There is no doubt that President Erdogan has been repeatedly elected through a democratic process, but I think the approach that they've been taking towards the press is one that could lead Turkey down a path that would be very troubling", Obama said in an April 2016 news conference.

Turkey's society is badly divided, with at least half the population opposed to the slide into authoritarianism under Erdogan. His views were echoed in a recent report by the Venice Commission, a legal advisory body of the Council of Europe.

On Tuesday, Yildirim said Erdogan would be invited to join the party as soon as the official results are declared.

The changes - due to be introduced before presidential and parliamentary elections in November 2019 - will turn Turkey into a presidential republic similar to the United States and France.

Under the outgoing constitution, the president had been required to remain impartial and renounce party political ties.

"Therefore we do not have any difficulties on that front", Erdogan said.

Government officials have acknowledged the need for structural reforms, such as changes to the tax code and labor market. "Where dictatorships exist, you don't have to have a presidential system", he said.
