Power outage is making the morning commute disgusting

At Hoyt Schermerhorn Streets station after reports of the F train changing over to the G line

Con Edison and transit crews are working to determine what triggered an hourslong power outage that caused major subway delays in New York City. The MTA reported that a Con Ed power problem was affecting the signals at Seventh Avenue and 53rd Street.

Generators restored some power by lunchtime. A, D, E, F, J, N, Q and R trains were all impacted - mostly delayed or running on different lines.

The LIRR is cross honoring at the following stations: Sutphin Boulevard-Archer Avenue, Kew Gardens-Union Turnpike, Forest Hills-71st Avenue, 61st Street-Woodside and 34th Street-Penn Station.

The outage - which was still in effect as of 9:30 a.m. - also knocked out service to the B train in both directions between Brighton Beach and Bedford Park and the M train between Chambers and Forest Hills-71st Ave.

As of 10:37 a.m., according to the MTA, all B and C service is suspended, and A trains will make local stops in both directions.

Some northbound D trains are terminating at 34th Street-Herald Square.

The E train was being rerouted to the F line between West 4th Street and Roosevelt Avenue in both directions. The MTA is investigating with Con Edison at the scene, a spokeswoman said.

E trains are running on the F line between West Fourth Street-Washington Square and Jackson Heights-Roosevelt Avenue in both directions.

Some Broad Street-bound J and southbound M trains are terminating at Myrtle Avenue or Marcy Avenue.
