Second suspect arrested as Briton confirmed among Stockholm dead

An image of the truck involved in the crash

Sweden's SAPO security police said Sunday it was working to find "any abettor or network involved in the attack".

A fire broke out Friday afternoon at the store after the truck smashed into its entrance on Stockholm's pedestrian Drottninggatan street.

Prime Minister Stefan Lofven, who visited a short time later, said: "The goal is that we are supposed to be afraid, but Sweden has shown itself from its best side".

The prosecutor has until noon Tuesday to ask the court to detain the suspect, said Karin Rosander, spokeswoman for Sweden's prosecutor's office.

Some reports suggested the suspect was a father of four who had previously posted jihadist propaganda on his Facebook page and had images of people injured in the explosion at the Boston Marathon in April 2013. None of them have been identified.

"There is nothing to indicate that we've got the wrong man".

Eliasson said there were "clear similarities" to an attack last month in London in which six people died, including the assailant who drove a hired vehicle into pedestrians on a bridge.

Their focus is now to prevent further attacks and investigate if there were other accomplices, Thornberg said.

Sweden has always been known for its open-door policy toward migrants and refugees.

Although it was not clear how long the suspect had been in Sweden, the Scandinavian country prides itself on welcoming newcomers.

"The efforts to locate (these people) is both time-consuming and resource-intensive", he said.

The suspect had applied for residency in Sweden in 2014 but his application was rejected in December a year ago, another police spokesman, Jan Evensson, told reporters.

Stockholm truck attack: Uzbek suspect confesses to committing 'terror crime'
Swedish Prime Minister Stefan Lofven has described the incident as a terrorist attack, and asked for tightening of borders. Akilov's attack with a truck ramming through the crowd has not been claimed by IS, like Nice, Berlin, and London.

"Do we somehow need a more repressive policy?" "We just didn't know when it was going to happen", he said.

Four people were killed and 15 wounded Friday when a stolen beer truck was driven into shoppers in Stockholm.

"If people who are here seeking asylum and treat us like this, it is not good", Holm said. "So now we have to have more security in our society, but still we don't like to live in bunkers".

Addressing tens of thousands of people rallying in bright sunshine on the downtown Sergelstorg square, organizer Rickard Sjoberg noted that many in the crowd probably were from out of town.

"But today, were all Stockholmers", he said to huge applause.

The British government has named a British man killed in the Stockholm truck attack as Chris Bevington. Their identities were not released by Swedish officials. He was a 41-year-old executive at the Swedish music-streaming service Spotify. And on France's Bastille Day last July, at least 85 people were killed when another large truck mowed down a crowd celebrating the day.

Fifteen people were injured, nine of whom remained in hospital yesterday.

One of the victims of Stockholm's truck attack, an 83-year-old Romanian woman who was begging on the city's pedestrian Drottninggatan street says she was "surprised" that by-passers helped her.

"I thought everyone would run past me and save themselves", Papusa Ciuraru, whose foot was crushed by a boulder displaced by the speeding truck, told the Expressen daily.

Previous attacks using vehicles have occurred in London, Berlin and the southern French city of Nice, all of them claimed by the so-called Islamic State (IS).

"The arrested man was not part of any of the security police's ongoing investigations".
