Stephen Colbert and 'Stephen Colbert' bid farewell to Bill O'Reilly

Yet, that wasn't enough to save his job; the company said Wednesday that 21st Century Fox and O'Reilly "agreed" that he wouldn't return.

The fast-moving story took shape with an April 2 report in The New York Times that five women had been paid a total of 13 million dollars (£10 million) to keep quiet about unpleasant encounters with O'Reilly, who has denied any wrongdoing. The Times found the company and O'Reilly had reached settlements with five women who had complained about sexual harassment or other inappropriate behavior by him.

The latest breaking news is that Fox News has fired Bill O'Reilly presumably because he has committed sexual harassment against a number of women.

Fox News is trying to ride out a scandal that erupted last summer, when the network's former reporter and talk show host Gretchen Carlson filed a sexual harassment suit against then-news director Roger Ailes, who ended up resigning last July. And if I can arrange that, I would like to bring the family of Kate Steinle with me, ' O'Reilly said, referring to an American woman killed by a deported Mexican labourer.

The Bill O'Reilly era at Fox News is over, but the controversy continues.

"I will always look back on my time at Fox with great pride in the unprecedented success we achieved and with my deepest gratitude to all my dedicated viewers".

By the evening, "The O'Reilly Factor" no longer bore his name, simply titled "The Factor".

But after the New York Times report, advertisers including BMW of North America, Allstate Corp, French pharmaceuticals maker Sanofi SA and T. Rowe Price, pulled their advertising from O'Reilly's show.

Europa League, Man Utd-Anderlecht
At a club like United, when you start the Europa League, you don't have the motivation high, but that's September. After enduring some struggles this season, the 19-year-old is now well and truly generating excitement again.

Walsh does not have a legal claim against O'Reilly due to the statute of limitations on harassment cases in NY and California, but she did report the matter to the human resources hotline of the company earlier this month.

It was a humiliating blow to one of the biggest U.S. media names, a veteran broadcaster at Fox News for two decades who counted President Donald Trump among his personal supporters and whose ratings soared in defiance of his alleged abusive behavior towards women.

Following the memo, Fox announced "Tucker Carlson Tonight" will begin airing an hour earlier to fill the time slot vacated byO'Reilly. "Fox News has demonstrated again and again the strength of its talent bench". The situation even forced 21 Century Fox to investigate the TV host's behavior.

An internal 21st Century Fox memo obtained by ABC News said that the "decision follows an extensive review done in collaboration with outside counsel".

O'Reilly's departure will not affect Twenty-First Century Fox's overall profitability, said Brian Wieser, an analyst at Pivotal Research. Then, she said, "we had quite a good relationship".

O'Reilly is also one of the country's most popular nonfiction authors.

That multiplying effect gave O'Reilly a role in a seismic change, he said.

It was signed by Executive Chairman Rupert Murdoch, who is also executive chairman of News Corp, which owns the New York Post. But Fox said Wednesday that wouldn't happen.
