Tesla recalling cars to address brake defect

Tesla recalling cars to address brake defect

The company says that less than 5 percent cars are likely to actually have been affected by the problem however, considering the extreme difficulty in testing each individual vehicle, it decided that a recall was actually the best option. A defective third-party supplied part could have been "manufactured improperly" and, if the part were to break, the brake would still work but would be stuck in place. The main supplier of parking brakes to Tesla is Brembo, an Italian company.

And so, Tesla is issuing a voluntary recall for 53,000 cars spread between the Model S and Model X crossover.

There have been no reports of the electronic parking brake failing to hold a vehicle, the Elon Musk-led automaker said. Vehicles from the recalled batch were manufactured in the period between February and October 2016. On Thursday, April 20, Tesla's stock price was down almost a full percent or $3.01 per share to bring it down to $302.51 at 5:39 p.m. The company has said that the recall will include a routine replacement of the brake system.

A Tesla spokesperson said the suit misstated facts and that the company has consistently updated and educated drivers about Autopilot functions and limitations.

Patriots, Trump Slam NYT Over Tweet of Team Photos
And by " Trump's team", I mean the New England Patriots, whose owner, Robert Kraft , is a longtime Trump friend. Several members of the team will not attend the ceremony because of the man whose hand they would be shaking.

Tesla reversed gains and fell by as much as 1.7 percent. Its shares were down 0.9 percent to US$302.69 (AU$402.14).

The announcement comes after a record 53.2 million vehicles were recalled in the U.S. previous year, according to the Transportation Department.

Late previous year, Tesla acquired Germany's Groham Engineering and formed Tesla Advanced Automation Germany. The company services customer vehicles instead through a network of around 135 service centers and with mobile technicians who fix customer cars at their homes or workplaces.

According to Reuters, Tesla is recalling 53,000 of its Model S and Model X cars globally.
