The Truth Is Out There: 'The X-Files Is Coming Back

TVWise reported late previous year that the increased order was a key objective for senior Fox execs, who were eyeing the new season for a spot of the 2017-2018 schedule.

Duchovny and Anderson have been confirmed to appear in the new season, which will be helmed by the series creator and original executive producer, Chris Carter.

"Iconic characters, rich storytelling, bold creators - these are the hallmarks of great TV shows", Fox president David Madden told EW. The new season will premiering in the 2017-2018 season, with filming set to begin this summer. It also was the season's most talked-about event series on Twitter.

Olympic champion Brianna Rollins banned for a year for anti-doping violations
The United States Anti-Doping Agency ( Usada ) says Rollins failed to properly file her whereabouts information for drug testers. As well as the eight out-of-competition tests, Rollins also passed all eight in-competition drug tests she took previous year .

Series 11 will air sometime in the 2017/18 TV calendar, and will of course see Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny reprising their roles as investigators Mulder and Scully. Over the course of its nine-season run, the influential series went from breakout sci-fi favorite to massive global hit, and became one of the most successful television dramas of all time.

Both actors have been confirmed to appear in the 2017 series, after both were secured for the six-episode re-boot past year that was directed by the series' creator and original executive producer, Chris Carter.

I've never been an X-Files viewer, but this second season of the revival, which will technically be the eleventh season of the show, gives me another reason to try to catch up on it all. Our review of the latest installment in this newly revived sci-fi classic is a ideal starting point before Season 11.
