UC Berkeley calls off Ann Coulter talk for security reasons

Ann Coulter said no to a proposal by the University of California, Berkeley, that would reschedule her planned speech on campus - to a date when no formal classes are in session.

Due to threats of violence from leftist groups, the University of California-Berkeley has canceled Ann Coulter's speech scheduled for later this month. The groups putting on the event are not sharing where Coulter will speak, but said they are looking at several locations, including on campus.

Coulter responded with a string of messages on Twitter, saying "I WILL BE SPEAKING NEXT THURSDAY". "Ann Coulter will speak at UC Berkeley whether Berkeley likes it or not", Young America's Foundation spokesperson Spencer Brown said. The location will be disclosed once campus officials have finalized the details with the Coulter organization and the two student organizations that invited her, the Berkeley College Republicans and BridgeUSA.

The Post reported the school also planned to impose conditions on the events but the college Republican group said they would reject them, according to a representative of the student group. "We also have an unwavering commitment to providing for the safety and well-being" of speakers, students and others, and "we can not compromise" on either of those responsibilities. "At the same time, we respect and support Ms. Coulter's own First Amendment rights".

'Rashford can be one of the world's best'
The first is with Liverpool and Manchester City victories this weekend, if we don't win, goodbye Premier League. The Blues are still in a strong position but they are now feeling the hot breath of Spurs on their neck.

"We want this event to take place safely and successfully", he said.

"I'm speaking at Berkeley on April 27th, as I was invited to do and have a contract to do", Coulter tweeted. Unfortunately, UCPD determined that, given now active security threats, it is not possible to assure that the event could be held successfully-or that the safety of Ms. Coulter, the event sponsors, audience, and bystanders could be adequately protected-at any of the campus venues available on April 27th.

Chancellor Nicholas B. Dirks instead proposed an alternate May 2 date for the conservative author.

"We have been unable to find a safe and suitable venue", said the letter from Vice Chancellor Scott Biddy and Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs Stephen Sutton. To make this process a success, we will need at least four weeks notice to collaborate on identifying an appropriate venue, time of day, and security arrangements. "UC-Berkeley has for example, welcomed the corrupt former President of Mexico, Vicente Fox, who has cursed at and mocked Donald Trump, now the President of the United States".
