Zoe Saldana Claims Starring in Sci-Fi Films Made Her Color Blind

If the social troubles of being nonwhite in America get you down, Zoe Saldana might recommend a part in a science fiction movie to calm you.

Actress Zoe Saldana says she is excited about her character from film "Guardians of the Galaxy" finding a place in "Avengers: Infinity War".

The 38-year-old star was accompanied by her mother Asalia Nazario, grandmother Argentina Cesse and husband Marco Perego, who also stole a kiss from the waxwork, reported People magazine. "In my head, I was thinking what this guy James Gunn is doing, but the moment I got off the plane and read the script and started rehearsing, I found it funnier and filled with heart", said Zoe.

The Afro-Latina actress, who plays the green-skinned alien Gamora in "Guardians of the Galaxy", told The Daily Telegraph on Saturday that sci-fi makes her feel "superhuman" because it doesn't focus on "the color of my skin or my gender or my cultural background".

Iowa may absorb $3M cost of cutting Planned Parenthood funds
President Donald Trump signed legislation on April 13 aimed at cutting off federal funding to Planned Parenthood. Now states can prevent abortion providers from receiving any of the money if they so choose.

Saldana's idea of race and not noticing it should come as no surprise.

If you recall, in one of her most controversial roles, where she portrayed the iconic Nina Simone and wore a prosthetic nose, Saldana went to bat with critics to defend her Blackness.

In that same interview, however, Saldana affirmed she does consider herself Black and added she never wanted to be questioned about it.

She told Australia's Stellar magazine: "It's amusing - people tell me this all the time, 'You have a house full of boys.' I'm excited, I'm curious, I'm nervous, but I'm accepting this challenge. I am black. I'm raising black men", she said.
