SpaceX to send commercial satellite into space today

The satellite, known as I-5 F4, represents the fourth satellite in the company's fifth-generation fleet of satellites.

The launch of the Inmarsat-5 F4 satellite is scheduled for 4:21 p.m.

Static fire test of Falcon 9 completed on May 11. Because of the fuel requirement, the Falcon 9 booster will not be recovered, says SpaceX in a statement.

Florida, May15:A SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket arrived at launch pad 39A on Florida's Space Coast on Sunday, a day before liftoff with a powerhouse Inmarsat communications satellite created to spread broadband beams connecting airline passengers, maritime crews and US and worldwide military units with Internet and data services. SpaceX has recovered a number of F9 first stages and is starting to recycle the "flight-proven" hardware into service on commercial launches, with the long-term goal of drastically lowering launch costs.

"From here I-5 F4 will be manoeuvred to its geostationary orbit, 35,786km above Earth, where it will deploy its solar arrays and reflectors and undergo intensive payload testing before beginning commercial service", Inmarsat said. In contrast to the constellation planned by SpaceX, Inmarsat's satellites are positioned above the equator in a geostationary orbit, which allows as few as three satellites to provide global coverage. Netflix quietly tests weekend price hikes in Australia
The former Abbott government made preparations to impose a tax on streaming services in 2015. Netflix is remaining tight lipped on the subject of rolling out any formal price increases.

A SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket is scheduled to launch tonight in a takeoff that can be watched via webcast or possibly seen from South Florida depending on evening skies. In December, Inmarsat switched launch of a satellite for the European Aviation Network and Greece's Hellas-Sat onto an Arianespace Ariane 5 booster that is slated to fly in late June.

Building such a network puts SpaceX in competition with its customers - such as Inmarsat.

SpaceX's original agreement with Inmarsat, announced in July 2014, also included terms for a possible third mission.

SpaceX's Falcon 9 is tuning out to be a real work-horse. The satellite that SpaceX is launching, called Inmarsat-5 F4, is larger than a double-decker bus and weighs almost 13,500 pounds.
