Gus Bilirakis is calling on Donald Trump to speak about the deteriorating state of human rights in Turkey, just before the president is scheduled to sit down with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan at the White House Tuesday.

At Tuesday's talks in Washington, Mr Erdogan also said he had raised the issue of US-based cleric Fethullah Gulen. Trump stated that the USA would "offer our support to Turkey" in fighting "terrorism" and that they also meant to "reinvigorate our trade and commercial ties".

The Turkish government had made clear their objection to U.S. arming of YPG Kurds, whom Ankara has for long regarded as Syrian branch of the outlawed PKK. Erdogan blames Gulen supporters for a failed coup attempt last July and has conducted a crackdown on them, drawing criticism from Washington. Turkey has been pressuring the drop support for the militants and doesn't want them spearheading an operation to retake IS' self-declared capital of Raqqa.

Erdogan is staying at Blair House across from the White House during his stay and was not present at the embassy during the commotion.

Elaborating upon his definition of terrorist groups, Erdoğan named the PYD, which is Syria's Kurdish Democratic Union Party, and the YPG, the People's Protection Units Kurdish militia fighting ISIS within the USA -backed multisectarian, multiethnic Syrian Democratic Forces.

New York Post also reported that the attackers were the security detail of Erdogan.

Word of Trump pick for FBI director could come within days
The FBI Agents Association on Saturday endorsed former Republican congressman and one-time agent Mike Rogers for the position. Much of Trump's ire has been focused on the communications team, all of whom were caught off guard by Comey's ouster.

Trump capped off the joint statement with Erdogan by calling the meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov "very, very successful" from the standpoint of united to fight terrorism - comments that come amid new reports that Trump disclosed potentially highly classified information to Russian emissaries last week.

The altercation outside the ambassador's residence occurred hours after the Trump-Erdogan meeting.

The relying on regional allies including Turkey for intelligence-sharing and military assistance as it crafts a Syria policy, particularly as Iran and Russian Federation work to bolster Syrian President Bashar Assad's government.

Trump fired Comey last week. It continued a trend of Trump's supporting strongmen, as Erdogan has been criticized for jailing the most journalists of any leader in the world, as well as tens of thousands of political dissidents.

Despite Trump's praise, relations with the United States and Turkey have been strained of late, and Erdogan brought a laundry list of complaints about American policies with him to Washington.
