David Ayer In Early Talks To Direct 'Scarface' Reboot

Scarface Remake Targets Suicide Squad Director David Ayer

Martin Bregman, producer of the 1983 "Scarface" film, will also produce. He's built a career on exploring them in movies like Training Day, The Fast and the Furious, and Dark Blue (all of which he wrote or co-wrote), along with Harsh Times and End of Watch (both of which he wrote and directed).

Another reason he's a solid fit: Ayer already has a history with this project, having written a draft of the screenplay.

In 2014, the Scarface remake was slated to be helmed by Chilean director Pablo Larraín, who announced it would follow a Mexican drug dealer.

States of Jersey 'remain unaffected' by global cyber attack
As James Andrew Lewis of the Center for Strategic and International Studies says drily, that would be "very hard to negotiate". How did it spread so fast? This and other tools leaked after an NSA contractor was arrested previous year for stealing data.

"Scarface" will hit theaters on August 10, 2018. But he has since dropped out, citing scheduling issues. The movie will be set in Los Angeles and will incorporate many modern elements into the mix. Diego Luna, who starred in "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story", had been attached to play the role made famous by Al Pacino in Brian De Palma's classic, but it's unknown at this time whether he will still topline, now that the project is courting a new director. Don't worry, there won't be any zombies in the Scarface reboot.

Next up for Ayer is Netflix's Bright starring Will Smith as a Los Angeles Police Department police officer who teams up with an Orc cop in a world that's populated by humans and mythical creatures. A Bluegrass Films and Global Produce production, the drama will be produced by Marc Shmuger (Lucy), Scott Stuber (Ted) and Dylan Clark (Planet of the Apes series). He is set to direct the DC Films' Suicide Squad follow-up, Gotham City Sirens, staring Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn.
