Donald Trump says he fired James Comey because he was 'unpopular'

Former FBI Director James Comey, whose firing by Trump last week started his latest round of problems, has signaled he could leave a paper trail documenting his interactions with Trump.

"There may be grounds", Lynch told WBUR's Radio Boston.

On Wednesday, a special counsel was appointed by the Department of Justice to oversee the investigation.

"I spoke to him (Lavrov) today", a smiling Putin told a news conference with Italian Prime Minister Paolo Gentiloni in the Russian Black Sea resort of Sochi.

And I thought that was was something that was bad, ' said Trump.

Trump's own timeline and rationale for firing Comey has repeatedly been amended by his administration. "We're going to have a director who is going to be outstanding". Two days later, Trump left his surrogates out to dry when he stated he was determined to fire Comey "regardless of recommendation", and that he had considered "this Russian Federation thing" before making the decision. Comey wrote the following day to say only "a small number' of emails had been forwarded and most got backed up from electronic devices". Claire McCaskill, D-Mo., said that Rosenstein knew before making his recommendation to Trump that the president would fire Comey.

White House press secretary Sean Spicer said Trump will be meeting later Wednesday with Lieberman, former Oklahoma Gov.

Curbelo urged the creation of a select committee to investigate possible ties between Russian Federation and the Trump campaign.

Agent in dark over Toure deal
Asked if this kind of inconsistency infuriates managers, Leicester boss Craig Shakespeare said: 'I think the honest answer is yes. The win means the Gers trail Aberdeen by six points with two games left ahead of their clash at Ibrox on Wednesday.

The New York Times had recently reported on a memo, allegedly written by Mr Comey, claiming Mr Trump had asked him to drop the investigation during a private meeting at the White House.

This revelation comes a week after the president fired Comey and a day after reports that Trump divulged highly classified information with Russian officials.

US Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein reportedly briefed senators on Mueller's appointment on Thursday, but refused to give a public statement.

Trump also suggested that former United States presidents Barack Obama and Bill Clinton had committed acts that should have been investigated by a special prosecutor.

Eggleston noted that because everything the White House does can get politicized, his job was to police what Obama could or couldn't say with respect to any law enforcement investigation - including cases investigated by state authorities involving black men fatally shot by police. In all of American history, only two presidents have been impeached -Andrew Johnson and Bill Clinton - and one other, Richard Nixon, has been forced into resignation with an impeachment imminent.

"Look at all the people on the Democratic side, not only the Republican side, who were saying such awful things about Director Comey", he said.

Elijah Cummings, top Democrat on a key House oversight panel, countered that Mr Ryan and the Republicans had shown "zero, zero, zero appetite for any investigation of President Trump".

At the press conference, Trump said his administration "look forward to getting all these things behind us".
