European Commission bans AirZim over air safety concerns

Unsafe Air Zimbabwe banned from Europe

The European Union Air Safety Commission has banned Nigerian airline, Med-View Airlines, from operating within European airspace over alleged safety problems.

The EU sometimes bans every airline from a country because of poor regulatory oversight; this applies to the vast majority of banned airlines-174 airlines in 16 states-even though the airline itself may have a safe operation.

"Following today's update, all airlines certified in Benin and Mozambique are cleared from the list, following further improvements to the aviation safety situation in these countries".

Na'Allah said the airline's operations to London was in no way affected by the ban and had since been operating with her wet-leased aircraft.

The ban had been imposed in December 2013 on 18 airline companies of the Himalayan country including the national flag carrier, Nepal Airlines Corporation.

All You Need To Know About WannaCry Ransomware
He added, "Ransomware is a programme that gets into your computer only by downloading and it will ask you to pay ransom in Bitcoins".

In an update to its Air Safety List, the European Commission has banned Air Zimbabwe from flying to the 28 EU Member States "due to unaddressed safety deficiencies".

A wet lease is a leasing arrangement whereby one airline (the lessor) provides an aircraft, complete crew, maintenance, and insurance to another airline or other type of business acting as a broker of air travel (the lessee), which pays by hours operated.

Na'Allah stated, "It will be recalled that in March 2016, Med-View Airline passed through one of the most stringent operations audit of the global airlines' body, the International Air Transport Association, after which it was issued with the International Operational Safety Audit".

An operator in the industry whose airline recently stopped flights to London told THISDAY that besides the safety reasons, European Union often bans airlines from largely third world countries to allow only airlines from Europe to operate to Africa, some parts of Asia without corresponding flights from indigenous airlines.

The latest dose of bad news to hit Air Zim comes as the debt-ridden airline is barely managing to stay afloat, and to keep operating its creaky aircraft - a development which has lately forced its single biggest customer, President Robert Mugabe, to hire private jets. Our governments do not fight back by banning them in response because they do not understand the world aero politics. Air fares went down when Arik and Medview started operating to London.
