Full impact of cyber-attack on patients at Derriford Hospital revealed

Ransomware cyber-attack a wake-up call Microsoft

United Lincolnshire Hospitals Trust has said all patients should attend their booked outpatient appointments and operations "as planned tomorrow (Tuesday) after 'significant progress" has been made in restoring IT systems following Friday's cyber attack.

Ten surgeries across the region were hit by the malware attack, which affected how staff could access patient records.

"Since the global coordinated ransomware attack on thousands of private and public sector organisations across dozens of countries on Friday, there have been no sustained new attacks of that kind", the NCSC said in a statement.

Cyber Security Minister Dan Tehan said on Monday that just three businesses had been hit by the bug, despite worries of widespread infection.

At Broomfield Hospital, part of Mid Essex Hospital Services NHS Trust (Midlands & East), trauma patients were being diverted to Southend University Hospital.

The ransomware attack has been described as the largest-ever of its kind.

Darien Huss, a senior security research engineer at Proofpoint, warned that "a new attack" was a major concern following the first cyber assault.

Populism still threatens France despite Macron victory
After his victory, Macron's supporters gathered at the Louvre, where he strode onto the stage to the European anthem Ode To Joy . En Marche! campaign manager Richard Ferrand says the organisation has so far managed to attract 2,85,000 members, CNN reports.

"All GP practices affected will be returned to normal operational status by today".

However, some planned surgery and some outpatient appointments will be continuing at all of our hospitals.

Staff at the hospital have been working around the clock to make sure the impact on patients is as minimal as possible.

Liz Capp-Gray, acting director of health informatics at Medway Foundation Trust, said: "I can confirm that we have not, so far, been directly targeted by the WannaCry ransomware attack".

"Patients already in hospital at this time will continue to receive normal care".

"We have taken all necessary steps to ensure the cause and nature of this attack is identified and have managed to isolate the issues within the NHS in Scotland".

European governments and companies appeared early Monday to have avoided further fallout from a crippling global cyberattack, the police agency Europol said.
