Lawrence O'Donnell confirms that he might leave MSNBC

Industry sources reported earlier in the week that O'Donnell and MSNBC had not engaged in talks of a new contract.

O'Donnell, who hails from Dorchester, is now the host of MSNBC's "The Last Word", but his future at the network - as of this writing - is unclear. "I'm sorry this situation has become public".

MSNBC had no immediate response to O'Donnell's tweet.

Word about O'Donnell's uncertain status leaked out over the weekend.

Earlier in the week, MSNBC executives said that negotiations are underway with O'Donnell's representatives.

They added that Lack believes O'Donnell, who has been with MSNBC since 2009, is only enjoying his recent ratings surge because of the strong lead-in provided by "The Rachel Maddow Show". So it's unclear what is going on.

MSNBC anchor Lawrence O'Donnell took to Twitter to acknowledge that he has entered negotiations with the NBCUniversal-owned cable-news network that may or may not result in him staying there.

Jose Mourinho: Manchester United boss should stop moaning - Phil Thompson
It's as simple as that. "And hopefully nobody will complain because we have a final three days later". So I'm happy with the situation today. "I told them exactly that", said Mourinho.

Just as MSNBC's prime time lineup is on a ratings roll, it was revealed that one of its top hosts could be leaving the network in three weeks due to contract disagreements.

A network executive told The Daily Beast that the Huffpost story is wrong and said O'Donnell and MSNBC management are negotiating "with an eye towards renewal and a new deal".

O'Donnell did not respond to a request for comment Wednesday morning.

MSNBC's negotiators may be trying to extract various concessions, like a annual lower salary than O'Donnell wants.

O'Donnell has also been sharing supportive messages from fans who are concerned he might be leaving the network.

Amid all of the rumors, Maddow publicly backed O'Donnell during her 9pm slot on Tuesday night, saying on air 'I consider us a team'.

"If they tried to get rid of Phil, I don't think the place would catch fire, but anybody who has a show that airs on this network would not do their show, starting that night", a longtime network insider said.
