Trump considers 'scaling back' Sean Spicer's role in White House

Verma Administrator of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services Secretary Tom Price U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services and Vice President Mike Pence

One senior administration official said that Deputy Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders will take over more briefings, while another told Politico that there will likely be fewer on-camera briefings overall.

Gingrich asserted that Trump as the US President has a right "to declassify anything he wants to", and that Presidents for centuries have disclosed sensitive information in chats with foreign officials.

Even as Trump reassured advisers like Spicer that their jobs were safe on Monday, he told other advisers that he knew he needed to make big changes but did not know which direction to go, or whom to select.

Guilfoyle said "a number of people" have brought up the idea of her taking the job as President Trump's chief spokeswoman or another role.

Shortly after reporting about the noise on Twitter, White House staffers turned up the volume on a TV to drown out the noise.

In related news, Trump is reported to be "furious" that Fox News host Kimberly Guilfoyle has openly sought Spicer's job.

Spicer has become a notorious figure due to his confrontational style with reporters and has been lampooned frequently on "Saturday Night Live" by actress Melissa McCarthy and Trump, Politico reported, has told aides he doesn't want Spicer to be the public ace of the administration any longer.

Lawrence O'Donnell confirms that he might leave MSNBC
Industry sources reported earlier in the week that O'Donnell and MSNBC had not engaged in talks of a new contract. MSNBC's negotiators may be trying to extract various concessions, like a annual lower salary than O'Donnell wants.

Guilfoyle has also been lavishing Trump with unconditional praise. The news media "is destructive and disgusting" and "a danger to the country", he said.

It's the latest in a series of rumors and rumblings about Spicer that started nearly since Day 1 of Trump's administration.

According to Politico, Guilfoyle said in the California interview she'd be willing to take a pay cut and move to Washington for a possible White House job.

Guilfoyle and Fox News both subsequently released brief statements attempting to walk back the Mercury News interview - though neither actually denied that Guilfoyle was in communication with the White House (but Guilfoyle is under "long-term" contract at Fox).

The 48-year-old Guilfoyle was originally considered for press secretary during the presidential transition, but the job went to Spicer, who was spokesman for the Republican National Committee. Trump and his administration have often seemed on different wavelengths during the controversies.

The decision comes after weeks of scandals engulfed the White House and derailed the president's agenda. She also agreed with her co-hosts that "the only person who communicated" effectively about the firing of FBI Director James Comey was Trump "himself".

"Well, he's been there from the beginning", Trump said without answering the question.
