Arsenal 2-0 Sunderland: Watch highlights as Alexis Sanchez scores twice

Arsene Wenger praises devilish Alexis Sanchez after brace against Sunderland

The race for the final two tickets to next season's Champions League will go to the wire after Arsenal retained their slim hopes of finishing in the Premier League's top four thanks to a late burst from Alexis Sanchez against Sunderland on Tuesday.

Arsene Wenger insists Sunderland goalkeeper Jordan Pickford is not on Arsenal's radar as the Gunners already have plenty of options between the posts.

Arsenal still need either Manchester City or Liverpool to falter on the final day if they are to qualify for next season's Champions League but thanks to Sanchez they have at least taken the battle to the very last.

Arsenal finish the season with a home match against Everton while Liverpool host Middlesbrough.

Arsene Wenger has hailed Alexis Sanchez's desire after he played through the pain barrier to help Arsenal beat Sunderland 2-0 at Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal were always dominant but spurned their opportunities before Sanchez turned in a Mesut Ozil cross from close range in the 72nd minute.

"We set up to try to make it hard for Arsenal and for long periods I thought we did that".

He emphasized, though, that he considered all 82 of the girls to be his daughters "because a lot of them worship in my church". Twenty-one Chibok girls were released by Boko Haram in October 2016.

"Firstly, he scored a lot of goals for us but his first job is not to be a striker, it is more midfield but he is an unbelievable player".

"We will concentrate on our game and there is only one thing we can do which is to win and then hope the other results will go our way, which if they don't, they don't". We were frustrated at half time not to be leading.

Wenger's own position still remains a mystery as he has yet to announce if he will sign a new deal to remain at the club beyond the FA Cup final meeting with Chelsea in two weeks' time.

"I think that's an insult to football as I've been a player myself", Moyes said.

"I have to say you want to have the Champions League one rather than the Europa League one but you can see more and more, big teams are treating the Europa League with respect because it is a European trophy".

'We have lost three away games recently that we shouldn't have lost - at West Brom just before the global break, and after at Crystal Palace.
