Man Tried To Breach Cockpit Door On Hawaii Flight

"Crazy! Someone tried to break into the cockpit on my flight from LA to Honolulu", one Instagram user wrote.

A man Donna Basden described as a "disheveled looking fellow" emerged and Mark Basden gave him the laptop.

Two passengers told CNN affiliate KITV a flight attendant blocked the man's path with a serving cart as he headed toward the cockpit.

He was later escorted off the flight by the Federal Bureau of Investigation. That's when Uskanil, now apparently wearing a towel or blanket over his head and with his laptop in his hand, was trying to get into the first-class cabin.

“The flight attendants just were really heroic, ” Lorenzen said.

Uskanil was subdued for the rest of the flight and arrested in Honolulu when the plane landed with a military escort.

"It caused worry on the plane, more curiosity than fear I would say because he wasn't acting irrationally but you could tell something was kind off about him as well", he said. A flight attendant was credited for stopping the man in the aisle with a beverage cart before he got to the cockpit door. Uskanil, 25, had already been cited for the trespassing charges at Los Angeles International Airport prior to boarding the flight.

Airline says they do not know of any injuries. Police said he had been drinking but did not meet the criteria for a drunk-in-public violation.

Due to a disturbance during the flight, the crew requested that law enforcement meet the aircraft upon landing in Honolulu.

Manning released from USA military prison
Manning, 29, captioned her first post on Instagram after creating a profile, which she used to document her return to normalcy. She also is still legally entitled to military medical care and commissary privileges, according to the Army.

Passengers noticed him before the plane even took off, The Associated Press reports.

Authorities said Uskanil was taken into custody - and is being held at the Honolulu Federal Detention Center.

American Airlines aircraft are parked at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport in Washington, U.S., August 8, 2016. It arrived at 11:35 a.m. local time.

U.S. Department of Homeland Security Secretary John Kelly was briefed on the disturbance, according to a statement from the department.

When the plane landed, law enforcement officers were waiting.

'At this time, there are no other reports of disruptions to flights.

Flight attendants, an off-duty Los Angeles police officer and other passengers were able to stop the man and secure him in a seat.

All ground movement at the airport was halted as American Airlines Flight 31 reached Honolulu, according to local news station KHON2. She referred further questions to Federal Bureau of Investigation, saying "We're still figuring out all the details".

American Airlines said it did not immediately know the person's nationality.
