Lahiri misses cut at Byron Nelson golf

James Hahn of the US hits a shot on the 15th tee during round one of the AT&T Byron Nelson at the TPC Four Seasons Resort Las Colinas in Irving Texas

Last week at the Players Championship, Jason Day had an opportunity on the weekend to charge up the leaderboard and finally get his season on track.

I can't tell you how many times I've blamed my putter during a round. "I'm still playing good golf and, you know, roll a couple more putts in tomorrow and [it will] be a fun day tomorrow".

The Australian did not dwell on that and posted gains on the 16th and 17th, the latter with a monster 60-foot putt that put him in a tie for the lead until Hahn and Horschel moved clear.

He holds a five-shot lead over fellow American Billy Horschel who backed up an opening round 68 with a five-under par 65. Not to be outdone, Masters champ Sergio Garcia and Cameron Tringale also went birdie-birdie-birdie to finish their rounds and turn up the heat on Hahn. 16-18. Tringale was fifth at 9 under after a 67, and defending Nelson champion and Masters victor Sergio Garcia was tied for sixth at 8 under after a 64.

Second-round leader Jason Kokrak, who led by five strokes after firing a 62 on Friday, moved in the wrong direction shooting a two-over 72 marked by a triple-bogey six at the par-three fifth hole. He had started the day in a six-way tie for third and six strokes behind Kokrak. No one has ever had a bigger lead there after two rounds.

Janzen had a run of six birdies and a bogey from holes 10-17 while Sluman and Jimenez closed with birdies on the 526-yard par 5. The lone slip up came on the the par-4 14th, but he played his final four holes in two-under to get him to 10-under for the tournament.

WILLIAMSBURG, VA. | Lexi Thompson shot 6-under-par 65 to take the first-round lead in the Kingsmill Championship on Thursday, a day after skydiving with Navy SEALS onto the course.

Thompson is playing her third event since losing the ANA Inspiration in a playoff after being penalized four strokes for a rules violation that a TV viewer reported.

The three-time tour victor carded a four-under 66 that featured birdies on his final three holes, including a hole-out from a greenside bunker on the par-3 17th hole. He had five bogeys and four birdies, plus saved par from a drop at the edge of a curb after his tee shot at the 316-yard 11th hole rolled to a stop on a neighborhood street, before the horrendous 16th hole.
