US security agency should take some blame for ransomware attack: Chinese media

"We believe the recent ransomware attack could accelerate the Windows upgrade cycle for enterprises". We can not expect criminal hackers to be held accountable for their actions, but we should hold our government agencies accountable.

Because of the way WannaCry spreads sneakily inside organisation networks, a far larger total of ransomed computers sitting behind company firewalls may be hit, possibly numbering upward of a million machines. When infected users opened their computers on Monday, they were met with nothing. The report quoted State Bank of India Officers' Association Secretary General R. Ramesh as saying, "Ransomware attack appears to be causing glitches at many ATMs that work on Random Access Memory (RAM)". (You can track the amount yourself here.) A majority of the payments came on Monday, just hours before the first deadline passed and the ransom rose.

However, the huge scale of the ransomware incident has already lead to increased interest in cyber coverage internationally, brokers report.

"What is new about the WannaCry ransomware virus, which can worm its way into Windows PCs and propagate automatically through systems, is its attack on intranets", Wu said.

Most of the antivirus software are unable to protect your system from ransomware, so you have to make sure that you are using the right one.

In-fact, popular companies like FedEx, LATAM Airlines and government agencies like Britain's National Health Service were also hit by the ransomware attack.

Wenger relents in his power battle at Arsenal as he accepts changes
But Wenger insists just because a player forged a career at Arsenal does not mean the club owe them a coaching role after retirement.

WannaCry seems to have attacked computers in Russian Federation first, after which the ransomware quickly spread to as much as 150 + countries and affected Microsoft computers.

The malware behind WannaCry was nicked from the NSA in April. Microsoft has sent sounded out a warning to establishments worldwide, urging them to treat this malware attack as a "wake-up call", but hasn't taken responsibility for exposing hundreds of thousands of users to extortion by cyber attackers such as ShadowBrokers.

The WannaCry attack has infected some 300,000 computers across the globe since Friday.

New infections stopped Friday when a malware researcher in the United Kingdom discovered a web domain in the code. "It knows how to exploit vulnerabilities in Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, Window Server 2008 and earlier versions", he added further.

Microsoft issued a patch against the vulnerability WannaCry exploits in March.

Keep your computer up to date.

Because it's possible for the perpetrators to alter the code to use a different domain, MalwareTech and others warned the ransomware could continue spreading.
