Suspected Manchester bomber had 'desire for revenge'

British police arrested a man on Friday in the of suburb of Moss Side, the tenth person to be taken into custody in connection with Monday night's Manchester attack.

Greater Manchester Police Chief Constable Ian Hopkins said police family liaison officers had alerted families of the victims to the publication of leaked intelligence.

"We have been carrying out searches at an address in the Withington area and a man has been arrested".

It also emerged that an Al Qaeda bomb-maker lived on the same street as Abedi, The Telegraph reported.

The suspected bomber in the concert attack in Britain passed through a German airport before the attack, police said today.

Britain's official threat level was raised to the highest level, or "critical" following the Manchester attack, with armed troops deployed to guard landmarks.

Police are rushing to uncover the network thought to have helped Abedi in the attack.

The bombing, which took place at the Manchester Arena indoor venue just after the end of a concert by USA pop singer Ariana Grande, was the deadliest in Britain since July 2005, when 52 people were killed in attacks on London's transport network.

He also said searches of premises revealed "items" which are "very important" to the investigation.

On Wednesday, The New York Times published forensic photographs showing components of the bomber's device strewn across the foyer of the Manchester Arena, enraging British politicians, intelligence agencies and police.

"It is absolutely understandable that this has caused much distress for families that are already suffering terribly with their loss", he said.

Father of Manchester bomber insists his son is innocent
Cities including Paris, Nice, Brussels, St Petersburg, Berlin and London have suffered militant attacks in the last two years. A cafe owner who spoke to CNN said that the city's sense of community was helping people come together during the hard time.

"This is until such time as we have assurances that no further unauthorised disclosures will occur", said the counterterrorism source, who spoke on condition of anonymity.

"The recent attack on Manchester in the United Kingdom demonstrates the depths of the evil we face with terrorism", he said. Burnham told the BBC, "It's not acceptable to me that here there is a live investigation taking place and we can not have information being put in the public domain that's not in the direct control of British police and security service". The paper, without specifying the source, said British authorities provided access to photos of materials found at the scene.

Many European cities, including Paris, Berlin and Brussels, have suffered attacks in the last two years, underlining the importance of confidential intelligence cooperation.

Britain routinely shares intelligence with the USA bilaterally, and also as part of the "Five Eyes" network which also includes Australia, Canada and New Zealand.

The latest controversy surrounding leaks comes as European security officials have been expressing concern about sharing intelligence with the U.S. after Trump discussed highly classified intelligence - apparently from an Israeli source - about the Islamic State group with senior Russian officials visiting the White House.

Burnham, a Labour mayor, said he had spoken with the USA ambassador to Britain about the issue.

Queen Elizabeth visited the Royal Manchester Children's Hospital, where some of the casualties have been treated, and was filmed chatting with a girl lying injured on a ward.

The Manchester United and Manchester City Football Clubs announced they have jointly pledged 1 million pounds ($1.29 million) to the We Love Manchester Emergency Fund.

The report said that British police informed their German counterparts that Abedi had received paramilitary training in Syria beforehand.

British police identified Salman Abedi, a 22-year-old British citizen of Libyan descent, as the Manchester Arena bomber on Tuesday.

The pictures included the remains of the suspected bomb, the rucksack worn by the suicide bomber and showed bloodstains amid the wreckage. The official also said his brother Hashim had told officials: "I know everything about my brother, what he was doing there in Manchester".
