Portland stabbing suspect yells slogans at court hearing

The Portland train attack suspect spent his first appearance in court spouting off nonsensically about free speech and being a national hero - yelling, "You call it terrorism, I call it patriotism".

According to police, Christian was arraigned on two counts of aggravated murder, attempted murder, two counts of second-degree intimidation and being a felon in possession of a restricted weapon.

As Christian walked into the courtroom he yelled out: "Free speech or die, Portland!".

Portland police spokesman Pete Simpson confirmed that the man in the KOIN video is Christian. They fearlessly risked their lives for two young women who were threatened by an act of bigotry & terror.

The Portland man who allegedly killed two men on a commuter train after they intervened as he spewed hate speech at two women who looked Muslim is a known local white supremacist, a local newspaper reported.

According to court documents, the video taken on train showed Christian concealing a folding-style knife and challenging Nankai Meche and Fletcher to "do something" before stabbing Fletcher in the neck. "You've got no safe place!" and "Death to the enemies of America!" According to an affidavit of probable cause, while in the police vehicle, Christian allegedly said that he was a "patriot" and admitted to the crime and saying, "that's what liberalism gets you".

"I'll knock that Hijab off her faster than you can say Burka in Pig Latin if she steps in Rip City", he wrote.

"You have said that you will be President for all Americans", she wrote.

Fletcher told KGW News that he was focused on healing "as much as I can, in whatever way I can".

But additionally, Portland over the last several months has been the scene of a lot of increasingly tense confrontations between protesters protesting Donald Trump's presidential administration, Portland police and counter-protesters, sort of alt-right groups. Fletcher was released from the hospital Monday and is recovering from his injuries.

Police report gives details in DUI arrest of Woods
Mr Woods was picked up by officers of Bolice Police Department in Florida after he was found passed out behind the steering well. The Memorial Day arrest is not Woods' first encounter with adverse publicity. "I think he's had ongoing issues with that.

However, the man who allegedly stabbed the three men, killing two and injuring the other, believes his actions were great for the country - his rant providing a glimpse into his extremist, nationalist mindset.

"We are just so sorry", Heater said.

"He knew something was wrong, got off the train, saw Micah in bad shape and calling for help - he just went over and helped him", Janice Heater said.

Taliesin Myrddin Namkai-Meche, a Reed College class of 2016 graduate, was one of the two people fatally stabbed while protecting the safety of others on the Portland, Oregon MAX train on Friday, May 26, 2017.

"I can die in prison a happy man".

The president said in a tweet Monday that the three stabbing victims stood up to hate and intolerance, and the attack was unacceptable. "Our prayers are w/ them", Mr Trump said in a Twitter message before taking part in a wreath-laying ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery. He also severely injured Micah David-Cole Fletcher in the attack. He had also been filmed performing a Nazi salute in the same rally, and shouting racial epithets while wearing an American flag as a cape. "This is America - get out if you don't like free speech". Forde told police he heard Christian say something about "decapitating heads".

On Monday, Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler called on federal authorities to rescind a permit for a June 4 "Trump Free Speech Rally" and not to issue a permit for a June 10 "March Against Sharia".

A Facebook page for the event says there would be speakers and live music in "one of the most liberal areas on the West Coast".

At some point, someone tried to physically move Christian away from the two teenage girls he was harassing, earning a warning from Christian, Macy told The Oregonian.
