WH aide Michael Dubke says his last day is TBD

President Donald Trump's communications director Mike Dubke confirmed Tuesday morning that he is leaving the White House after barely three months working in the tumultuous administration.

White House communications director Michael Dubke has resigned.

Press secretary Sean Spicer may also have fallen out of favour, according to some reports in the US.

"NATO's secretary general recognizes that the president's rhetoric has had a positive effect on the strengthening" of the organization, Spicer said Tuesday. He's always proven that.

"Mike will assist with the transition and be a strong advocate for the president and the president's policies moving forward", Priebus said.

However, former White House national security adviser Michael Flynn, who resigned after failing to properly disclose his own contacts with Russian officials, told the Senate Intelligence Committee he will begin turning over some documents subpoenaed by the panel, a government source familiar with the matter told Reuters.

According to Axios, Dubke submitted his resignation on May 18, but agreed to stay until Trump returned from an overseas trip. The Washington Post reported last week that Trump's son-in-law and top adviser, Jared Kushner, had discussed establishing a secret and secure communications channel with Russian Federation, at a time when former President Barack Obama was still in office for another month.

The White House did not announce a departure date for Dubke, but chief of staff Reince Priebus said Dubke "will remain on board until a transition is concluded".

Trump's communications director throws in the towel
He was responding to reports that Trump is looking for a major shakeup in his communication team as part of which Dubke resigned. Trump returned to Washington on Saturday from a nine-day foreign trip to Saudi Arabia, Israel, Vatican City, Brussels and Italy.

What's worth noting is that the first change in what could be a larger White House shake-up has come in the communications department, with rumours of further reorganisation imminent.

White House press secretary Sean Spicer said Tuesday that reports that Jared Kushner asked Russian Federation about setting up a secret line of communication with Moscow were based on "facts that are not substantiated", but he did not explicitly deny the allegations.

The White House has not named a successor for Mr Dubke.

Joel Johnson, a senior adviser to Mr Clinton from 1999 to 2001 and who worked with the White House throughout the impeachment proceedings, said that the Clinton administration's establishment of a war room "allowed the business of governing to go on". Dubke, who was brought into the White House in March as head of the office that runs press and other public relations issues, oversees the White House's message strategy while spokesman Sean Spicer, a more high-profile figure, handles daily media briefings.

"You have to find a way to separate and distance the core White House staff from that level of intensity on business unrelated to the President's agenda".

Bossie told "Fox & Friends" that the Trump administration has reached out to him but hasn't offered him a job yet.

In another Twitter comment, Trump said the 100-member Senate should change its rules that often require a 60-vote supermajority to approve major legislation and immediately switch to a simple majority of 51 votes to pass health care and tax legislation "fast and easy", with possible Democratic support.
