Portland victim's mother appeals to Trump to condemn acts of hate

Christian was arraigned Tuesday and yelled as he walked into the courtroom, saying: "Get out if you don't like free speech!" and "You call it terrorism; I call it patriotism".

Wheeler had called on the US government to revoke a permit for an event Sunday billed as a pro-President Trump free-speech rally and not to issue a permit for the rally against Islamic law.

Court papers state that in the patrol vehicle, Christian confessed to the murders and said, "I can die a happy man", The Associated Press reported. "That's what liberalism gets you", Christian said. "We told him, 'You gotta get out of here'".

Jeremy Joseph Christian, the white supremacist who is accused of stabbing three people on a Portland light-rail train - killing two of them - had a range of extremist political views. A third man, Micah Fletcher, survived being stabbed but had to listen to Christian shouting things like "Death to the enemies of America". Leave this country if you hate our freedom. "I'll stab you, too, (expletive)", he said. The Oregonian/OregonLive reports (https://goo.gl/y5ktAS ) that MAX operators will stop trains at their nearest station and bus drivers will pull over at stops or along their routes at noon Friday. "I can die in prison a happy man", the suspect told police while in custody following the crime.

Christian faces multiple charges for aggravated murder, intimidation in the second degree, attempted murder and being a felon in possession of a restricted weapon.

Christian grabbed his belongings, exited the train and used the knife to threaten several people on the platform, the affidavit said.

Christian will appear back in court June 7. He stabbed the men as they came to the defense of two young women, one of them evidently Muslim, wearing a hijab.

Ariana Grande Will Play Benefit Concert for Manchester Bombing Victims
The Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS ) claimed responsibility for the suicide bombing in a generic statement posted online. Not only has Ariana and her manager Scooter Braun reflected on the events but her mom, Joan Grande , is coming forward as well.

Fletcher attended Christian's court hearing Tuesday, sitting in the first row between police investigators and more deputies.

Best, 53, died on the train and Namkai-Meche died at the hospital a short time later.

These rantings are similar to what Christian is reported to have shouted during the train attacks, including "Go home".

The young women who were being subjected to a man's racial and religious insults while riding on the MAX light rail train are the ones who need sympathy and support, Fletcher said in a video posted on his Facebook account.

In an interview with ABC, Fletcher, who was released from the hospital Monday night after being stabbed in the neck, said Portlanders must work together to protect each other. As a shoving match ensued, the documents say Christian stabbed first Fletcher, then Namkai-Meche.

Christian, who was being recorded while in the back of the auto, said,"I'm happy now". In a letter to Trump, Asha Deliverance said her son and two other men acted did not hesitate to confront the bully because the two female passengers were being harassed and that she was grieving but proud of her son's selfless action. "He was just telling us that we basically weren't anything and that we should just kill ourselves".

SIEGEL: Amelia, what more do we know about Christian and what might have led to the events on the train? Videos have surfaced showing Christian shouting at people, at one point saying the N-word, as police officers separated him.
