This 13-Minute Wonder Woman Featurette Is Just Icing on the Cake

The decision to ban the film in Lebanon has naturally begged questions on Twitter as to why they won't be showing this particular Gadot film with just hours to spare, even though the plot has nothing to do with Lebanon or Israel.

Support for the "Wonder Woman" boycott was not unanimous.

Gadot will be reprising the role of Wonder Woman for November's Justice League movie, and assuming the solo movie proves as popular with audiences as it does critics, a second Wonder Woman film is surely on the horizon too. Not only did she help dream up the look of the Amazon island and hire scores of actresses to serve as its resident warriors, she's the first woman to direct a major superhero movie, and her success could pave the way for others. With the show proving expensive due to its World War II setting, ABC stalled on picking it up for a second season, prompting rival network CBS to snap it up and relaunch it as The New Adventures of Wonder Woman, shifting the action to the then-present day of the 1970s.

"Like columns? They didn't make that much sense to me", Jenkins said in a recent interview.

Gadot has been vocally supportive of the Israeli military and critical of Hamas, the democratically elected Palestinian faction in Gaza.

House Committee Subpoenas Flynn, Cohen; Comey to Testify
The House intelligence committee has also sought information from Epshteyn, a former staffer in the Trump White House. On Tuesday, it was reported by CNN that Flynn would provide documents requested by the Senate intelligence committee.

"Resist what?" Fares wrote. The column featured a picture of Gadot carrying her Wonder Woman shield.

It's not everyday an actress is asked to play one of pop culture's most iconic heroines. That's the aspect of this that I find the most hypocritical: Lebanon has played many of Gadot's movies over the past few years without incident, including Fast and Furious 6 ($788K), Fast Five ($520K), Triple 9 ($49K) and Criminal ($15K). "A movie in which the lead actress happens to be Israeli". That said, Wonder Woman also has a larger budget to contend with; once you figure in the cost of the film, the adverting and production costs, you're looking at a $300 million overall budget.

Censorship has been getting tighter in Lebanon recently.

As The Hollywood Reporter points out, Wonder Woman was only set to screen in 15 theatres across all of Lebanon, meaning that the box office from the country alone isn't likely to be of great concern to Warner Bros. It is scheduled for release June 22 in Oman and June 29 in Bahrain.

Some in Lebanon criticized the call for the ban, but their voices were faint compared to the boycott campaign that featured in primetime television in Lebanon.
