Amid anger at home, Pakistan moves ICJ over Jadhav

The decision of the International Court of Justice (ICJ) to stay Indian national Kulbhushan Jadhav's execution in Pakistan represents a clear win for India.

India reacted to the verdict by taking the matter to the International Court of Justice (ICJ), headquartered in The Hague, accusing Pakistan of "farcical trial" in the matter of Jadhav.

His colleague and Interior Minister Chaudhary Nisar Ali Khan said the case would be taken to its "logical conclusion in accordance with Pakistan's law and constitution".

The ICJ ordered Pakistan to stay Jadhav's execution over allegations of spying until its final decision on India's petition to annul his death sentence. The announcement by Sartaj Aziz came amid criticism by experts and opposition leaders over the government's handling of the case at the International Court of Justice. The ICJ will now call for a more comprehensive filing from India before it decides the case, a process that could take years. Though India got a breather for Jadhav, his well-being still remains a matter of concern as Pakistan has provided no information about his location or health condition.

Two opposition leaders also linked the weak defence put up by Pakistan at the ICJ on Thursday to the meeting Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had with Indian business tycoon Sajjan Jindal, said to be a friend of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Notes From The Phillies' 2-1 Win Over Colorado
Thursday's outing will be Rockies starter Tyler Anderson's first time facing the Phillies this season and the third in his career. Anderson, who turned a forgettable April into a strong May, limited the Phillies to four hits through his first six innings.

"The order issued by the ICJ is just a procedural order to enable full hearing". Furthermore, he said, the Europeans were staunchly opposed to the death penalty.

The legal points of the case should be discussed but there should be no politics on the issue, he said, according to a report by state-run Radio Pakistan. Pakistan Army had also released a confession video of Jadhav admitting that he was responsible for espionage and terrorism offences in the country. "Get him proper legal representation and then let him be tried in a manner acceptable to civilised society", he added.

He said that the both the countries has signed the vienna Convention and hence, it is binding on Islamabad and it can't refuse to abide by the verdict of ICJ.

Aziz, however, maintained that Qureshi had "courageously" presented Pakistan's case in the court, the Nation reported.
