Saanich South MLA Lana Popham endorses power-sharing agreement with Greens

The power-sharing agreement announced Monday and described in additional detail Tuesday calls for a four-year agreement that would see the Greens support a New Democratic minority government under Horgan on matters of supply and confidence.

"The NDP and the Greens, we have a deep, deep desire to show British Columbians to see proportional representation and to show that minority governments can work, either through coalitions or agreements like they came to today".

It has stood resolute despite repeated overtures from the BC Liberals and NDP, who have watched with a mixture of envy and trepidation as the Green Party gains support and momentum, election after election.

"We have a duty to meet the house and to test its confidence", Clark said.

The province's two right-leaning parties recently signed a deal to merge, but the union needs approval from both Progressive Conservative and Wildrose Party members this summer to go ahead.

In terms of what will happen in regards to BC Liberal leader Christy Clark's role, NDP leader John Horgan said that "the premier will have some choices to make".

The Liberals won 43 seats in the May 9 election, one shy of a majority, but the formal, four-year agreement between the Greens and NDP would give them 44 seats, handing them a one-seat majority.

Here, in Boundary-Similkameen, last week's announcement of final results in the recent provincial election confirmed MLA Linda Larson's win with a sizeable plurality, but we don't yet know for certain if she'll end up on the opposition side of the legislature when all the dust settles.

It improved, as 85 investors sold T shares while 621 reduced holdings. 52 funds opened positions while 150 raised stakes. Important factors to focus when evaluating a stock's present and future value are the 52 week price high and low levels.

But Clark appears resigned to losing a confidence motion, opening the way for the second-place NDP to be given a chance to form a government by Lt. -Gov. "That includes Kinder Morgan and making sure we have access to tidewater for our products", said Alberta Deputy Premier Sarah Hoffman.

The Greens captured just 3.4 percent of the vote in the 2015 election that saw Trudeau's Liberals party take power.

"Mark my words that pipeline will be built, the decisions have been made and it is in the best interest of Albertans, Canadians and in particular might I say British Columbians", said Notley.

Green Leader Andrew Weaver and NDP leader John Horgan brought their working agreement to the Lieutenant Governor's residence in Victoria Wednesday morning. "I'm optimistic and excited for the future", added Horgan. The B.C. Greens have also said they are sticking together, with no plans for any of the MLAs to switch allegiances.

"I'm looking forward to seeing what we can get done", said Bill Masse, who ran for the Greens in Langley East.

"That's up to the Lieutenant-Governor", she said.

Minutes after Clark spoke to reporters, celebratory NDP and Green MLAs formed up behind their leaders in the legislature for the public unveiling of their 10-page agreement, contingent on "the principle of good faith and no surprises". So far, there is little controversy surrounding her decision, at least from a legal point of view.

In fact, when Christy Clark spoke to the media on Tuesday about her plans and her plans for the B.C. Liberal Party, she was the epitome of leadership and class. Kudos to her.
