E3 2017: EA Play Recap

The EA Play event for 2017 has just ended and the company had quite a bit to show this year.

As racing game fans, our attention will be drawn to the recently unveiled Need for Speed Payback. "Lots of sports and mostly teases" isn't a phrase that inspires confidence, but it could have been a whole lot worse.

Robust single-player experiences have been a part of all of EA's sports franchises for years, but the new trend is layering a cinematic story on top of the single-player mode.

In all it wasn't a strong conference in the slightest, but it wasn't Ubisoft Laser Tag levels of disastrous. They haven't revealed much besides this, but they should be dropping a new trailer tomorrow. You can play it with a friend you invited over or with someone online. Gameplay has also been reworked with the turned of classes and the new Battle Points system, which will allow deeper customisation in the game's multiplayer modes. We have several conferences coming up, so be sure to check back for of the latest E3 news as it comes our way.

Comey goes medieval: 'Will no one rid me of this meddlesome priest?'
The reference between Comey and Lankford goes back to an outburst from King Henry II about the Archbishop of Canterbury. But he again fell out of the king's favor, and on December 29, 1170, he was murdered in Canterbury Cathedral.

The biggest new addition to the game seems to a RPG-like mode called "The One" where players create and customize a unique character.

BioWare's new project, Anthem, revealed. After taking in the morning's press conference to witness some cool things, like Imperial Stormtroopers and British men talking about soccer, we were able to run around the Hollywood Palladium and check out a few games for ourselves. We'll find out when the game releases this September. Alex Hunter, the fictional character from past year, will be taking the lead role once again however the trailer suggests that he's considering the possibility of leaving the Premier League and moving to the Major League Soccer. It looks like EA listened to the fans. The publisher went all out this year, revealing major and some minor news. Offering a co-op storyline, A Way Out is a tale of two men who embark upon personal missions that require breaking out of prison. EA has responded to player feedback concerning the first game and that was addressed during the briefing hosted by actress Janina Gavankar. The first content coming to the game will be themed around the new movie "Star Wars: The Last Jedi" and will include new characters.

We can expect to see a closer look at some of these titles - particularly Anthem - at the Xbox and PlayStation E3 conferences, and we'll be posting from hands-on thoughts over the next few days. All DLC for the game will be free and will include maps, characters, vehicles and more.
