Cuba condemns Trump's 'hostile rhetoric' but still wants to talk

US President Donald Trump

Today at the Manuel Artime Theater in Miami's Little Havana neighborhood, Trump unveiled his administration's Cuba policy - though not necessarily to the benefit of the Cuban or American people, as his tweet pledged.

Declaring Obama's pact with Castro a "completely one-sided deal", Trump said he was canceling it. But Trump said it's up to the Castro regime to decide if the USA will lift its sanctions.

Embassies in Havana and Washington will remain open.

The policy will maintain diplomatic relations and allow US airlines and cruise ships to continue servicing the island.

Under this policy, Cubans fleeing the island were permitted to stay in the United States if they reached USA soil. Remittances to Cuba won't be cut off. "Why would you go back to a policy that has failed for 55 years?"

Regularly scheduled commercial flights to Cuba resumed a year ago following an application and approval process for airlines with the U.S. Department of Transportation. Once implemented Trump's policy is expected to curtail U.S.travel by creating a maze of rules for Americans to obey.

Cuba Scuba is hosting a Cuba night for anyone with questions about traveling with them June 27 at 6:30 p.m.at Deep Blue Dive Center at 1313 Progress Rd. "Our partners have to be the Cuban people", Diaz-Balart said, calling this a "win-win" for both America and the Cuban people.

On Friday, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce decried the changes.

UNIDENTIFIED MAN: (Chanting) America first. "The theme of today is drowning out racism", said counter-protester Tony Murphy. No area of the US has legally implemented sharia, despite false reports on social media that Dearborn, Mich., enacted it.

The U.S. government will also monitor other trips to ensure student travellers, for example, are pursuing a "full-time schedule of educational exchange activities". It will not tolerate interference in its domestic affairs, Cuba added. He's also a co-sponsor of legislation that would eliminate restrictions on travel to Cuba by American citizens and legal residents.

"It's a very big deal".

House Resolution 525 allows for private-sector financing of agricultural products exported to Cuba, allows for the promotion of U.S agricultural products in Cuba, and provides US companies with the ability to develop agricultural businesses in Cuba.

Barack Obama attempted to thaw relations by loosening trade and tourism bans. The president announced a revised Cuba policy aimed at stopping the flow of USA cash to the country's military and security services while maintaining diplomatic relations.

Trump's rollback - Trump will re-impose the requirement that "people-to-people" travelers can only come to Cuba with heavily regulated tour groups. American visitors still allowed to bring back all the rum and cigars they can manage.

The White House said the aim is to channel business away from the Cuban military monopoly GAESA, including travel-related transactions, and instead boost direct business with small, private enterprises.

"The reason being that all the hotels are owned by the military", explained Jeff Dash, of Dash Travel in Delray Beach.

As he spoke, The White House released a fact sheet on the key policy changes, which included enhancing restrictions to better enforce the ban on USA tourism to Cuba.
