Jeremy Corbyn refuses to disclose on retaliatory nuclear strike

Another said the BBC journalist will have blood on her hands if the interview turns support against the Labour leader

Pressed on whether he would be prepared to push the nuclear button Mr Corbyn was heckled as he refused to say whether he would launch a retaliatory nuclear strike if the occasion arose, saying "I'd view the idea of having to use a nuclear weapon as something that was resulting in a failure in the whole world's diplomatic system".

Former US presidential candidate Bernie Sanders has said he is "very impressed" by Jeremy Corbyn and the Labour leader's willingness to talk about class issues.

Mr Corbyn took questions on the credibility of his spending plans, Brexit preparations, record on tackling antisemitism and stance in a hung parliament, in BBC One's Question Time Special.

Asked if he could guarantee that all or a proportion of the one million jobs would go to British workers, Mr Corbyn said after the speech: "They would obviously be for people looking for work, the vast majority will be for people coming out of our schools and our colleges and our universities, and we will not allow anyone to only recruit overseas for jobs here".

Jeremy Corbyn has hit out at Theresa May for refusing to debate with him on television, saying it was a "shame" that she had decided not to take part in a head-to-head showdown.

But following criticism of the package, dubbed the "dementia tax" by opponents, Mrs May performed a swift U-turn which saw her commit to a cap on the total costs people would face - but the level of that cap will be determined following a consultation after the election.

Faced with narrowing polls that put at risk her goal of securing a bigger majority to ensure a smooth Brexit process, Mrs May said she didn't regret her decision to go to the polls.

"If we did use it, millions are going to die". He asked how the public could trust the Conservatives when no figures were given in the manifesto.

However, those who said they would consider voting for Corbyn further noted that they were not 100 percent sure and four of them remained undecided.

The Prime Minister replied: "No it's not, sir".

"We've been open about that, and I've also been open that there will be some
hard choices to be made in addressing those various challenges".

"Jeremy Corbyn has got a really good vision and does want to change the country for the better rather than lining the pockets of the rich", said Stewart Platt, 29, from Newcastle, in northeast England, though he isn't letting himself get carried away.

She accused her of failing to differentiate between mental health and learning difficulties when speaking to a woman while on the campaign trail in Oxfordshire - but Mrs May said the woman had spoken to her about both issues. Mr Corbyn said he "deplored all acts of terrorism".

The pledge reiterates plans announced in January, and shows her determination to expand the appeal of her Conservative Party to working class voters who typically back the opposition Labour Party.
