London fire: Police release images of devastating tower inferno

Two British officials said Sunday that exterior cladding used in a renovation of the high-rise may have been banned under United Kingdom building regulations.

Hands cautioned Sunday that investigators still don't know exactly what cladding was used when the building renovation was completed previous year.

Two British officials have said that new exterior cladding used in a renovation of Grenfell Tower may have been banned under United Kingdom building regulations.

They said: "We naturally welcome funds for those in need, though this does show once more the tendency to sideline residents' views".

The cause of Wednesday's blaze is still under investigation, but anger has mounted in the community amid reports that exterior paneling may have spread the flames.

Labour Party lawmaker David Lammy demanded that the government and police immediately seize all documents relating to Grenfell's renovation to prevent the destruction of evidence that could show criminal wrongdoing.

Grenfell Tower is located in a pocket of social deprivation within the borough of Kensington and Chelsea, one of Britain's wealthiest areas.

The interior of the 24-storey tower block was gutted beyond recognition, with police commander Stuart Cundy referring to the conditions as "indescribable". He has not provided details about the inquiry.

Writing in the Observer on Sunday, Mr Khan suggested high-rise tower blocks dating from the 1960s and 1970s could be torn down in the wake of the fire, which he said may well be the "defining outcome of this tragedy". A Grenfell resident who was certain this was an issue of vested interests said "they don't want us here" and said that in his life no such incident had taken place before the regeneration authorities made past year "to make the block better".

"There is a feeling from the community that they've been treated badly because some of them are poor", Khan added.

Davis says will talk in positive and constructive tone
However, it seems unlikely he will be able to resist public comment on the Brexit process, which he has described as a "tragedy". The Prime Minister's legacy will be defined by whether she makes good on her promise to make a success of Brexit .

Britain observed a moment of silence at 11 a.m. Monday in remembrance of the victims.

Frustration has been mounting in recent days as information about those still missing in the blaze has been scanty and efforts to find temporary housing for the hundreds of now-homeless tower residents have faltered.

Prime Minister Theresa May and her ministers were scrambling to make up ground following stinging criticism of the government's initial response to the disaster.

"There is also a real possibility that there may be people in the building that no one knows are missing".

In addition, British health authorities will provide long-term bereavement counselling for those who lost loved ones in the tragedy.

Family liaison officers have been deployed with 52 families, including those with critically ill relatives as well as those whose family members have died.

Sixteen bodies have been removed from the blackened 24-story public housing unit and the first victim has been formally identified as Mohammed Alhajali, a 23-year-old Syrian refugee.

His family said Alhajali "came to the United Kingdom because he had ambitions and aims for his life and for his family".

New footage from inside Grenfell Tower shows the devastation caused by the blaze, as police expect the death toll to continue to rise.

Cundy explained that one of the reasons identification has been so hard is because dental records are needed from victims who hailed from different countries around the world.
