Police Investigating After Vehicle Hits Pedestrians In London

London Police say they are investigating an incident in North London after reports of a vehicle collision with pedestrians.

"The driver of the van.was found detained by members of public at the scene and then arrested by police in connection with the incident", the statement said.

Some reports also said that a van had run into a group of Muslims, coming from the mosque in Finsbury Park after their special Ramadan prayer, Taraweeh.

There were officers on the scene with emergency responders, treating a number of injured people, according to the Metropolitan Police.

"At that moment in time, basically a van swerved into them deliberately", he said, citing a witness at the scene.

London Mayor Sadiq Khan said police were responding to a "horrific terrorist attack".

At least three people are "seriously injured", according to the BBC.

On March 22, a man drove a rented vehicle into pedestrians on Westminster Bridge in London and stabbed a police officer guarding the British parliament to death before being shot dead.

Monday's incident in London follows three Islamist attacks in Britain this year.
