Rosenstein warns Americans to 'exercise caution' about anonymous reports

Special Counsel Robert Mueller is investigating son-in-law and top adviser to the President, Jared Kushner's finances and business dealings in relation to Russia's alleged involvement in the 2016 election, according to The Washington Post.

Trump's tweet that he's being investigated "by the man who told me to fire the FBI Director" may refer to Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein.

Rosenstein, No. 2 at the Justice Department, appointed Robert Mueller as special counsel to investigate all angles of a probe into Russia-Trump, including the termination of Comey.

Rosenstein is the government lawyer responsible for overseeing the investigation into the Trump campaign's alleged collusion with Russian Federation during the 2016 presidential election, with Attorney General Jeff Sessions having recused himself from the probe.

Officials familiar with the matter describe friction on the Justice Department's fourth and fifth floors, home to the suite of offices belonging to the deputy attorney general and the attorney general, respectively, in part because of Rosenstein's handling of the Russian Federation matter.

The Post quoted five people briefed on the requests, saying those who agreed to be interviewed include national intelligence director Daniel Coats, Admiral Mike Rogers who heads the NSA, and his recently departed deputy, Richard Ledgett.

Before he met with the president, Comey gathered his leadership team at the Federal Bureau of Investigation to discuss with them whether he should be prepared to assure then-President-elect Trump that the Federal Bureau of Investigation was not investigating him personally.

One dead in London mosque attack
The Foreign Ministry has confirmed that there have been no reports of Malaysians involved in the Finsbury Park attack in London . Toufik Kacimi, chief executive of the Muslim Welfare House, tells Sky News there is no "need to react with tension".

"What I did is I was going to fire Comey".

Supporters of Trump condemned the news leaks regarding the new investigation.

While Mueller's investigation is in its early stage, his spokesman Peter Carr told the Post "the Special Counsel's Office has undertaken stringent controls to prohibit unauthorized disclosures and will deal severely with any member who engages in this conduct". That is what the White House said and the Attorney General Jeff Sessions implied in testimony earlier this week.

Investigators might be interested in Rogers because Trump at one point asked him to issue a public statement denying the existence of any evidence of coordination between his campaign and Russian Federation, according to officials.

Before Trump took to Twitter on Friday, Rosenstein on Thursday issued a perplexing statement of his own, denouncing news stories based on anonymous sources. Once the president fired Comey, though, things appear to have changed.

Sen. Dianne Feinstein, the top Democrat on the Senate Judiciary Committee, said she was "increasingly concerned" that Trump will fire both Mueller and Rosenstein. However, Trump later told NBC News' Lester Holt that he had already made a decision to fire Comey before that memo was written.

Most legal experts believe that represents an obstruction of justice.
