Democrats seek first big win of Trump era today in Georgia

Voters in Georgia's 6th congressional district, which encompasses the suburbs north of Atlanta, take to the polls Tuesday in a special election to fill a vacant US House seat. "A lot of them are going to be these fast-changing suburban districts that Republicans have long held".

The Georgia special election seems the best chance for Democrats to pick up a deep-red seat.

"Democrats know the importance of flipping a historically red district, so their thought process is: 'If they can flip Georgia 6, they can flip anything, '" said Ryan Bakker, an associate professor of political science at the University of Georgia, according to the Center for Responsive Politics, a campaign finance watchdog in Washington, DC.

Should Democrats fail to convert at least one of the special election seats, it could be a demoralizing blow for administration opponents who have seen these races as early tests of the national strength of an anti-Trump movement. That's more than double the 56,830 early ballots cast in the April 18 special election.

The Republican president argued in a Monday tweet that the Democrats have "no ideas".

Ossoff, 30, a political newcomer, originally drew national attention to his campaign with the anti-Trump slogan, "Make Trump Furious".

The race is being viewed nationally as a gauge of whether President Donald Trump's sagging approval ratings are a drag on Republicans that could threaten the party's control of the House in the 2018 midterm elections.

The Dems want to stop tax cuts, good healthcare and Border Security.Their ObamaCare is dead with 100% increases in P's. She says she'd have voted for the House GOP health care bill; he says he'd have opposed it.

Trump won the district by 1.5 points in the November election, but his approval ratings in the area have since dwindled, giving Democrats hope that they can flip the district.

The bowling lineup was led by Pakistan paceman Hasan Ali, who finished with 13 wickets, and his team mate Junaid Khan. For Pakistan , pacers Mohammad Amir and Hasan Ali bagged three wickets each.

The Real Clear Politics Average of polls shows Ossoff with a slight lead of 49.6 percent to Handel's 47 percent in a district that normally favors establishment Republicans.

Through the campaign, Ossoff was hesitant to even say Trump's name.

In what's become the most expensive House race in history, both Democrats and Republicans have tons at stake.

A GOP outside group called The Principled PAC is on the air with an ad tying Ossoff to the shooting, warning that if Ossoff wins, those who support leftwing political violence win with him. The race between Handel and Democrat Jon Ossoff.

To win, Ossoff will need something approaching presidential-level turnout from Democratic base voters - and African-Americans are a crucial component of that base.

Ossoff and Handel have both decried the ad, though Handel stopped short of calling for it to be taken down.

Handel told reporters Monday that she hadn't seen the ad. I should not have said what I said.

"Voters here are focused on what a candidate offers to do to improve their quality of life, and they want some fresh leadership", he said.
