In spite of tweet, lawyer insists Trump not under investigation

Jay Sekulow, an attorney for Donald Trump, on Sunday said the president is not being investigated for obstruction of justice.

Sekulow explained the president's tweet that appeared to acknowledge he was under investigation from the special counsel. Next, on Friday morning, Trump announced to the world he is under investigation: "I am being investigated for firing the FBI Director by the man who told me to fire the FBI Director!"

Last week, Trump sent a tweet referring to being the victim of a "witch hunt". What journalists focused on like a laser on was the first four words of the president's tweet: "I am being investigated".

Mueller's probe is in its earliest stages and the idea he had narrowed the investigation down to one person is absurd. "Why don't you just pick up the phone and find out if it matters so much to the president, whether or not he's being looked at, find out". "In fact, to the contrary", Sekulow said on CBS's Face the Nation.

"The president has confidence of everyone who serves for him in this administration", said Spicer.

The Latest on the investigation into Russia's actions in the 2016 elections. King said on NBC the "collusion, the cooperation aspect of the investigation is not over". "No, he's not being investigated!"

James Comey, left, testifies during a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing on July 8, 2015. Ledgett wrote a memo, according to the source, documenting a conversation in which the president allegedly urged Rogers to help get the FBI to lift the cloud of the Russian Federation investigation.

In a two-part tweet posted before 7 a.m. Sunday, Trump wrote: "The MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN agenda is doing very well despite the distraction of the Witch Hunt".

The President and his allies have declared open season on Mueller and Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, who is overseeing the probe.

Zinedine Zidane to Cristiano Ronaldo: Real Madrid need you!
PSG, of course, are one of the few clubs in world football who seem capable of having the funds to complete a deal for Cristiano. Madrid , though, will do everything they can to keep Ronaldo.

A case in point is the firing of Comey and Trump's subsequent admission that he had Russian Federation on his mind when he dismissed the Federal Bureau of Investigation director, an admission that could provide a rationale for an obstruction of justice probe.

President Donald Trump, whose combative instincts are to lash out and never retreat, appears to be shaping a legal team in his own image. "No", Sekulow said, "The context of the tweet, I just gave you the legal theory, Chris, of how the Constitution works". Mueller was rumored to be up for the job of Comey's replacement (he was also his predecessor).

A source familiar with the Mueller probe said on Thursday that investigators would have to gather a large amount of evidence before an interview with the president would be warranted.

"I think there's general agreement", Feinstein told CNN on Monday. Absolutely none of it corroborates the central claim of Trump haters: that Trump, or anyone close to Trump, conspired with the Russians to hack the DNC or John Podesta, subvert the election, or otherwise act against the interests of the United States.

Liberal law professor Jonathan Turley said the testimony in the hearing "actually helped Trump and his legal case", adding that even if we accept his version of events he "did not describe a crime or an impeachable offense".

He said, however, that Sekulow's comments could mean the White House was taking the position that no investigation exists until Mueller's team officially confirms it, disregarding media reports based on anonymous sourcing.

"They want to lay the foundation to discredit whatever Bob Mueller comes up with", Schiff said on ABC. "They're essentially engaging in a scorched-earth litigation strategy that is beginning with trying to discredit the prosecutor".

The president has directed some of his frustration at Mr Rosenstein and Mr Mueller.
