Iran says Tehran attackers had been to IS bastions Mosul, Raqa

On Thursday, Iran's Intelligence Minister Mahmoud Alavai, said the country was investigating whether Saudi Arabia had a role Wednesday's attacks. It said dozens of people have been detained.

When Islamic State called on members of Iran's Sunni Muslim minority in March to wage a religious war on their Shi'ite rulers, few people took the threat seriously.

But no proof or specifics were offered.

The Islamic State claimed responsibility of the two attacks - a suicide bomb and gun assault.

IS has also claimed multiple attacks inside Saudi Arabia.

The Wednesday attacks were directed at Iran's Parliament building and the mausoleum of the late revolutionary leader Ayatollah Khomeini and left 17 dead and 52 wounded, reports Efe news. "We underscore that states that sponsor terrorism risk falling victim to the evil they promote", Mr Trump said. The outlet also noted that the U.S. State Department had published a "more benign" statement on the incident, reading, "The depravity of terrorism has no place in a peaceful, civilized world".

Grenfell Tower Deaths Rise to 79, London Police Say
The devastating fire erupted in the early hours of June 14 trapping several sleeping residents at the 24-storey Grenfell tower . Mr Khan said an inquiry should be properly resourced so it can get the full truth about the fire as quickly as possible.

While ISIS claimed responsibility, Iranian officials have also suggested Saudi Arabia may have played a role - and Iran's foreign minister called the official USA response "repugnant", after President Trump ended his expression of condolences for the victims with the message that "states that sponsor terrorism risk falling victim to the evil they promote".

The country's Supreme Leader said the attacks will add to the hatred that Iranians harbor toward the United States and Saudi Arabia. Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif in a tweet on Thursday called the White House comments "repugnant" and accused the USA of supporting terror. The siege lasted for hours, and one of the attackers blew himself up inside, according to Iran's state TV.

"We grieve and pray for the innocent victims of the terrorist attacks in Iran, and for the Iranian people, who are going through such challenging times", the president's statement read.

Iran's state broadcaster said a security guard was killed at the tomb and that one of the attackers was slain by security guards.

Although this is the first evidence of an IS presence inside Iran, the government has clashed in the past with both Kurdish Islamic militants and secular Kurdish separatists. He did not elaborate.
